A friend of mine asked me if I was planning on putting my site up yet, and I said I didn't have money for hosting. He reminded me he owns a server, so he'll host me, so that's not a problem.

What I'm trying to do though, is find someone really awesome at building sites and such. Actually, you don't even have to be great, just half decent. I'm working on the games and RP designs, marketing/advertisement, the business model and all that stuff.

What I'd like to find is someone to code the site in Notepad++, or at least the main page, cuz then my friend will host it, and the rest of the site can be built after that. I don't really know where else to ask people since you can't ask on Craigslist without offering money for work up front. I'm hoping that there's a few unemployed or really bored coders out there reading this.

Let me know if you're willing to at least see what I have in mind.

There's a whole <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/index/530-Job-Board>Job Board Forum, where it'd probably be more prudent to post such a thread. Good luck.

Depending on how advanced you're trying to get I would say look into using Wordpress [http://wordpress.org/] it's an open source CMS that has a ton of plug ins that I'm sure you could use.

You'll need access to a database and such but still.

I think OP only needs the HTML front page. Wordpress should work. So would Dreamweaver. There are also ready made templates all over the internet. Some of them free, some not.

However, whoever is making that page for you (if you decide to subcontract it) will need a design first. If you have Photoshop or any graphics program (GIMP is free) try making something there. Trust me OP, both of you will have a lot less headaches if you agree on the design beforehand. Both of you. I can't stress this enough. I've worked in a web design company - what you're describing is a simple job but I wouldn't ever do it without a design (well, unless I know you really really good).

The Oatmeal really captures the essence of web design. [http://theoatmeal.com/comics/design_hell]

I want to thank everyone :)
Yes, I'm friends with a great graphic designer, and he's helped me on a few things. How it's worked so far: I come up with an idea, design, and do it- then show it to him. And he comes up with one way better than me, but it still bears the same functionality (or better). Then I accept it.
I've heard and read lots of stories about a designer being hired for a job, but the person hiring them has absolutely no aesthetic sense or professionalism in their design, and doing the job anyway just makes it harder for the designer to get a job afterwards because their work looks like crap. I won't do that to people.

I tried working with GIMP before a few years ago when I was doing morrowind modding, but using it as a replacement for photoshop isn't something I considered. I just hope the version they've got now is more user-friendly than the one I used before.
