There have been a few debates recently on the news about weather or not people should work on a Sunday due to it being the 'Lords day'. do you think that people should have Sunday off or should people be able to work? in some places everywhere is closed, including shops, cinemas, swimming pools, the lot. this means that everyone has Sunday off but you can't do anything because no-where is open. i'm not religious so, to me, Sunday is just another day and i don't mind working and places should be able to open if they want and people should be able to work. my mum thinks that everywhere should shut and people should have the day off (even though they may only work a couple of days during the week and may want to work on). how do you feel about this?

That's weird. If you can't work on Sunday because it's "The Lord's Day" then should Priests not work then?
And what about Saturday? That's the Jewish holy day.

I thank god (incoming irony) that a lot of the shops in my neighborhood are run by (launching irony) Hindu's!

You need redbull at 3am on Christmas Day? No worries! The Max Milk is open!

Thanks, I thought it was one of the Abrahamic faiths.

I would leave it up to the owner. It would be nice to know that something is open every day of the week though, you never know when you might need something. Loving the red bull comment, case in point right there.

I couldn't care less for the reason, but if they take away my weekend, I will kill again.

The option to stay open should be there - it's just another day, after all.

But it's a weekend day.
Don't worry, because, in America, its going to stay the same as it is now. Because anyone worth their two cents would want the option, except for the over-critical christian stereotypes.

No, I work weekends as it has handy to fit around a changing uni schedule (plus I get time and a half). If you shut the shops for christian holy days then you have to factor in all the religions. Plus it's unfair for a non-christain who wants to work sunday.

And Fridays are usually the biggest of the week for Islam.

I've only run into that a couple times--and usually it's small shops that close up on Sundays. But larger stores and theme parks and any other business and all that--those are always open on Sunday.

And if people need the money, they should be able to work on Sunday because--believing in God doesn't put money in your bank account.

In the UK, shops are open pretty much every day (even on bank holidays, new years eve/day) However they come with the bonus of time and a half pay I.E paid and hour and a halves worth every hour (for Sundays). Bank holidays and other holidays are double pay 9(where I work, your experience may differ)

In that case my new religion is the reformed Abrahamic faith. Have fun working while I take a 3 day weekend, suckers!

Who would want stores to be closed on Sunday? That would just make shopping on Saturday even worse.

Seconded, ignoring the whole religious thing, the weekend is awesome. And yes, if people decided they want to be open, they should have the freedom to do so.

Doesnt matter because here in america town thats never going to change. I do think, however, that everyone should have two days off every week.
This. Everyone should have at least 2 days off, not for religious purposes, just for the good of it.

A lot of places are open Sunday...
They just close earlier. And if you're THAT religious, ask for mornings/nights off on Sunday to make it to your religious locationon time, whatever it may be.
