Very simple request, to get myself into shape, I like to have something to run to on the treadmill or stretch or lift to, and I don't listen to near as much fast music as I could.

My only requirements: I like listening to something that feels fast, and because of an overactive imagination, I tend to zone out with music playing over a pair of headsets (Holy Shit! I'm being chased by a fire-breathing Dragon, while I run into a battle against an army during an Avalanche! It's so improbable and awesome!), so something that would sound awesome during a fight/action trailer/Final Battle would be awesome, or something that makes you feel like a badass, go for it.

An example of what I like (Don't limit yourself to what I like, just throw out anything, instrumental, video game soundtrack, movie soundtrack, ETC):

E.S. Posthumous (Unstoppable)
Dimmu Borgir ( Progenies of the Great Apocalypse, Puritania)
Pendulum (Granite, Midnight Runner)
K.M.F.D.M. (Free Your Hate)
Nero (Doomsday)
Prodigy (Invaders Must Die)
The Stargate SNES Game (A boss battle theme, oddly enough)
Queens of the Stone Age (I Appear Missing, Smooth Sailing)

And that's just off the top of my head, so anything you can suggest, please do. I'd like to get into shape, and who knows, this might even encourage a few members to work out too. Please Suggest some songs, and thank you all a bunch.

I just heard this on the radio a while ago:

http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/music/popular-playlists/100-best-workout-songs/

The big problem you're going to run into is that the "best" workout music is pop and party music because the beats per minute are high (therefore you work out harder keeping up with the beat) where rock is one of the worst due to the exact same reason. Rock also tends to be more disjointed since Pop repeats itself a lot.

Personally, I go with angry music because what does science know!?!?! NOTHING!!!! RAAAAAAGHGH!!!!!!

(so I end up with Avenged Sevenfold [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DelhLppPSxY], Three Days Grace [ePVErcAUzK8], Breaking Benjamin [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qrRzNidzIc], Papa Roach [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvSvEeD8CVQ], that kind of stuff)

Although listening to some of your songs, my music isn't angry enough for you. I guess I'm just not as angry as I thought I was :(

No idea if you're into the same stuff as me, OP, but you can try some of this. It's the kind of stuff I use while running.

I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of cool Metal bands and 80s rock anthems posted and I could list some myself, but just for those who might want to try something different.

Loads of great instrumental music with a high-tempo beat. But you'll have find the right ones, others are really, really too....slow. :p

Otherwise, more game-like:

And of course the occasional hard-rock, SoaD comes to mind first. Those guys have energy. :D

This one might be nice for immersion:

Good luck.

I've found that Sabaton has a fair few songs that are great for working out. I've asked around and I am not the only one who uses them.

Your workout will be over 9000! No, but I do just genuinely like this song, and it does go great with Goku.

And I mean jeez, if you ever wanted a role model for working out! D:

...Well, in terms of workout music, I tend to listen to music that could cause someone to dance while I normally workout...

Case in point:

However, these three songs I've been listening to off the "why did the producer of this album take it off bandcamp just the other day" Rainbow & Rooted album Four's Falls Down have become a part of my workout playlist... and I think these songs "might" work for you:

I really like jogging with the second song I linked from that album playing in my headphones, repeating the lyrics likes it's my way of say "I'm not going to give up that easily! I can do this!!" or "I will punch the sky in success!!!"

So yeah... Hope this helps you...

Punk works well for me. I tend to go with a lot of thrash metal as well, but punk is more raw which increases the adrenaline even further!

Da punk(though this album in particular is kind of thrash)Da thrash

The trick is not to just acquire music that is 'fast', but to get the music that has a beat at the right pace for you. Otherwise, if you just aim for fast, you could end up listening to something like Dragonforce and probably give yourself a heart attack.

Strangely there is actual research into getting the right music for the right exercise and the right person, as you would need something faster to make you sprint, but slower when doing weights etc. There are apps for this as well, that try to direct you towards songs that are suitable - I believe one is just called 'jog.fm', but I'm sure there are others.

Maybe that would be worth a try?

Rob Bailey and the Hustle Standard seem to be focused on creating workout music.
I wouldn't really listen to it in other circumstances, but these songs will get that one more rep or last mile out of you.

Guile's Theme literally goes with everything... as does Ken's.

Smooth McGroove sings:

You'll find most old-school Capcom music fits the bill, come to think of it... classic soundtracks such as Mega Man 2, 3, and X, and Street Fighter II. Also tons of stuff available on OCRemix should suit the workout/imagination setting nicely.

I am honestly appalled that no one has mentioned this yet:
I'll listen to pretty much anything when I work out. It doesn't need to be fast for me. This song isn't exactly fast but I enjoy working out to it.
Edited so that it actually works...

You need square brackets around the youtube tag for it to work. I've fixed it in this quote, so you can see how it's done.

OP: If you like Pendulum, Celdweller did a really good remix of Propane Nightmares:

Listen to this or a whole Disturbed album and don't stop lifting until you look like Hercules.
