This makes me happy. So glad I've been hearing positive feedback about this expansion... makes me want to play again haha.
I re-subbed a couple of weeks ago and I was starting to wonder if it was worth the new subscription.

.....Then I got one of these as a mount

(sans Goku unfortunately)

You should definitely give it a go. I've been having a blast since I went back.
I got one of these:

I'm still working on my one of those. Then all we need is for Blizzard to release a head slot item that looks like some Super Saiyan hair.

This probably isn't entirely OT but; why do so many people like WoW? I played it for a bit (3 hours) and had no fun what so ever and I just can't see why people play it so much. I like the idea behind it and my computer is full of WoW hentai. Mmm, Draeni...

OT: Good for you Blizzard, so, can you make Warcraft 4 now?

We also need the Orange Gi or Freeza armor and we'll be set.

(The Freeza armor might work on my Worgen because he's a Deathknight)

Well, I have more complaints than that. And it's not really the daily grind that bothers me - taking into account the rate at which valor is earned, the grind isn't bad. It's just that the heart of the Pandaria quest experience, the Golden Lotus dailies, are absolutely terrible. They're utterly limp. The most boring block of quests I've seen since Vanilla. The other hubs are quite fun, but that center one is abysmal, and it killed the xpac for me.

A few professions are still painful to level, even though some are vastly improved. I feel like Blizz doesn't even know what to do with Professions any more though. For most, leveling is effortless. Why even make professions depend on leveling if I can max them out before I even hit the level cap? What's the point?

Plus the lore. There's so little now, and so poorly presented. Half the faction leaders are cardboard cutouts with a tape recorder put up in their capitals. And Blizz isn't even pretending that there's not a Horde bias. If anything, it's getting worse. And I *play* Horde.

But I digress. WoW is on its way out, even if slowly, and I'll be glad to see it go. Chris Metzen's Mary-Sue-ing of Thrall in Cataclysm was about the most unbearable thing I've even witnessed in a video game. I'm not eager to see it replayed with Vol'jin or whoever the new Jesus is.

This surprises me - I wonder how current that figure is. Because I know that a -lot- of players have dropped their subs in the past two weeks due to the daily grind and general aimlessness of this xpac. I have, and a lot of my guild. And if 1/10 of the people whining about dailies on the forums have... it's a lot.
I believe the figure is current as of this quarter, not sure though.
The problem wth basing how players feel about the game by the forums is that you really only see those that complain. Those who are enjoying the game aren't generally going to show much they love it on the forums. However you will get many people who aren't enjoying themselves posting because people want their complaints to be heard. I'm pretty sure the majority of the playebase don't even visit the forums.
The daiy grind was only really an issue for those on the bleedig edge of progression raiding. Not to mention it's pretty much the only real complaint the playerbase has this expansion.

Sure, might not be a good idea to rely on the revenue long term, but until then they are raking in $150 million dollars a month (sub fee for WoW is $15 a month right?)
Not exactly, in Asia they pay per hour sorta thing, any of those people that pay something in one month is considered a subscriber for that month.

Just a great expansion, Cata was not so they hurt and started to loose people. Now they're on the rise again. Its the power of the panda maybe? But more logically its just a damned sizable amount of content and less crap like in cata. I'm loving it and have lots to do well starting to run out but meh 5.1 is on the way :p

Apparently only 1/10 are capable of walking away from that damn game.
Yes, because everyone who plays that game is addicted to it. Yep. Totally.

Who ever said they played the game every single waking moment of their lives?

((This is supposing that your comment indicates addiction to WoW))
they are wow players. what part of definition of addiction did you not understand?

Ok seriously now: this is to be expected. people moved away from wow to try many other newly sprung mmos. they turned out to be.... not quality material. So people moved back to wow. add the expansion spike (thats bound to fall down regardless how good expansion is, it just gets bigger if expansion is better. and you got subscriptions jumping by a measly <10%. ive seen eve online expansions that almsot doubled their subscription base. but i guess for wow its harder, its reputation and all.

Play a human! They have a Super Saiyan hair style.

It's good. The 85-90 content is the best leveling content so far, the zones are interesting and quite beautiful (and that's something considering how old the game engine is) and there are a lot of things to do on the side.

I really like the dungeon content, the design seems to be better than ever - it slowly introduces you to fight mechanics along the way and tests you during the boss fights, which is in my opinion the ideal way to do things. Unfortunately I don't have time to commit to a raiding schedule any more and after being a hardcore raider for a while I just can't stomach pugs. So I've no idea how the raids are, but I expect they are as good as the dungeons.

That being said, MoP is GRIND-TASTIC... and that's saying a lot. Too much skinner-box mindless grinding for my taste and that, coupled with the inability to experience end-game content is why after hitting 90 I've pretty much stopped playing.

I could go on, but just one look at the story forum shows that the same problems from Cata persists, namely the godawful writers who thought shoving a death camp into hillsbrad was "Teh Awsumz!". .
Well, the Hillsbarad camps were part of the lore back when it was good and interesting (Namely Thrall's origin). But I agree, WoTLK was the end of the story as far as I'm concerned.

I've read a lot of the extended lore, I know who everyone is supposed to be and how it all ties into the whole thing... and I just don't care.

I was invested in the story of (mostly) Warcraft III and that ended with Arthas' demise.

That aside, the content is still pretty much the best MMORPGs have to offer at the moment. EVE is just too different and too long-term to appeal to many people.

ToR is just pathetic... Gameplay-wise it's *identical* to WoW (and people are bored of this formula ffs), the much flaunted BioWare TM story is weak and I much prefer WoW's smaller, but much more interesting mini-plots (especially in MoP) and having EA behind it is in no way an advantage. Whatever might be said of Blizzard lately, they have a LONG way to go before they are as bad as EA.

I have some minor hopes for TES Online, but it's not looking too good. I smell the same old tired combat and progression system. Maybe if they do something along the lines of D&D Online...

That number will likely fall with Cross realm zones, daily quest grinding, and reputation tied to valor points. People really don't like them.

I don't care about any of that, but I will probably unsub at the end of this raiding tier. There are so many problems with the end game I don't even know where to begin. Heroics and challenge modes are too easy. Too much RNG in some boss fights. Valor points given by raid bosses is so pathetically low you're pretty much forced into heroics, scenarios, dailies, and LFR to cap valor for the week, even if you don't need any gear from them. LFR still drops gear with a high enough item level that you're forced into running that every week with entitled and whiny bad players who bail after one wipe. Then there's the eventual progressive nerfs that will ruin the raid tier and take out all fun; eventually it will get so bad that normal mode will be indistinguishable from LFR, difficulty wise.

Everything seems fresh and exciting at first, but people will get bored very quickly and leave. In 5.1, they will be adding more dailies and more factions, as well as an invitation only brawler's guild that will only make things worse. Other than that, all we have to look forward to is a bad Orgrimmar raid and every single person and their cousin walking around with legendaries at the end of the expansion.

I don't get why its become cool to hate on WoW. It's not a bad game. It's not "unhealthy" for the industry and the devs seem to be trying their hardest to keep people playing. They are basically what we'd all want an MMO to do.
It's popular, that's good enough reason for many people to hate it.

OT: I don't want to bash your thread but decrease of players before expansion and increase after it is out is for WoW as common as cycle of seasons. Blizzard stock owners might be interested but for us its just oscillating number.
