I have a rather generalized opinion, so my arguement probably wont work too well. Even so, one inevitability to the world is the fact that we seem to be incapable of giving everyone on the planet everything they need/want. Lack of food/water/whatever-else-people-need in countries around the world has caught the concern of some people and organizations have been formed in hopes of change, but in some cases, similar situations are getting nowhere.

For example: Recently, there has been a fundraiser at my school to build two schools in Sierra Leone. There is a lot of great thought put into this idea, but with a civil war involving child soldiers going on there, isnt it just going to be torn down eventually anyways? The movie Blood Diamond comes into thought...

Back to the topic of resources, what are we going to do with water? I really dont think I need to go into this topic very far, it seems to be rather straight-forward. On another topic, i've heard some people say that the sole reason for the war in Iraq was for oil. I would really prefer to not talk about that, since its a rather delicate topic and its already been done before. But, if it was true, then its probable that similar situations will happen for water, and maybe trees, so on, so forth.

Bingo. You seem to have caught on to humanity's obsession with violence and fighting. Until we phase out machismo behaviour, it'll stay the same.

Though I wouldn't say that it's pointless to build the school because it'll have the lifespan of a dragonfly.

No. And if it ever does I bet the second world peace is declared we will be invaded by aliens and wiped out, because life is ironic that way.

But then the crabpeople will fight one another. But seriously, it will never happen unless it is peace reinforced by fear...

the sniper said it best "as long as there's two other people on the planet, someone is going to want someone else dead"

Bingo!
As long as one person disagrees, and they have access to weapons there will never be world peace. Yes, your fists do count as weapons.

Humanity will never achieve peace. The TF2 sniper put it best: "As long as there's two people in the world, someone is going to want someone dead." People disagree and fight over the smallest things, and to change that is to give up all individuality.

Personally, I'd rather have eternal warfare than peace at the cost of self.

Keep in mind, if world peace happens, everything will start to get boring. At least chaos keeps things moving.

The way I see it humanity is fixated on one thing, exploration, above all else we are a race who wants to do things never done, see things never seen and then make sure everyone else can go there and see them too. Now that may seem like a really feel good idea of humanity, however, try and look at it this way, we're all trying to get someplace first, but we want to get there first, before everyone else, there's two ways to do this, be the best, or make everyone else the worst. I'm sure any one of the numerous pessimists on this site can tell you about how much mankind likes to beat the shit out of each other for stupid reasons.

Human race + being alive = war or some other kind of violence.

There will never be world peace because humans just love to take things by force and are very violent in general.

Which is why we need to find some poor alien planet. So we can devout all of our focus on blowing up their peaceful planet, instead of killing each other.

It also complicates most other systems of government. If robots were the main "species" we would have total peace

i think that you should blame humanity not limited resources. If you look at Africa a desolate continent that has limitless amounts of soil that could possibly give rise to agriculture. With a couple years of cultivation. with right equipment people could collect enough water when it rains to sustain themselves. they could pipeline water from the ocean clean it and give it to inland countries. Africa would have enough resources to sustain itself indefinitaly. Human wants exceeds the needs though humans needs transportation for this point in development but instead of creating solar cars which really wouldn't take to long with the vast amount or resources available to the world auto indsutry. They don't tho and.... this has gotten to long but i think i got my point out if you didn't get it i'll keep going later.
