The title of this subject may be slightly off, but let me explain :

I am sick and tired of killing nazis in every single world war 2 game !.

Now I know, that Company of Heroes had a game, where you could play as the nazis - and I enjoyed it very much! New weapons (trust me - most of the guns of the Allies repeat all the time) and new looks!

Before people go crazy and label me a nazi lover, just hear me out.

Is there a game, where you can play as the Wehrmacht (Call of Duty: World at War doesn't count - yes, I play it, and only either Marine Raiders or Wehrmacht!) ? And I do mean, play as the Wehrmacht, in a campaign!

Ok, I know that it's hard to produce a game like that, because you would have the entire jewish community knocking on your door yelling slogans et cetera, but come on!

Let me know how you feel on this subject !

(Oh yeah, and when you name a game, make sure it has a Wehrmacht (German army in WW2) campaign - multiplayers don't count)

There was Panzer Commander. Panzer is German for tank, so I assume that you play as German forces.

The thing is, developers wouldn't want to make this sort of thing, because Germans would rather forget about it, and everyone else would see it as glorifying the Nazi agenda, whether that was true or not.

I honestly don't care. I'm just flat sick of WW2 games. GAH!!! Now, playing a campaign as the locusts would be sweet.

Red Orchestra 2...I'm pretty sure it's 2...recently came out (I think :D) and you're playing as the Wehrmacht.

Really all I can think of at this point.

Yes WWII games (Like Madden, Tony Hawk, Dynasty Warriors, etc.) have been doing the same crap for years now! New IPs please!

Well I'm pretty sure that, from an FPS perspective at least, gamers would be reluctant to play on the side of an army led by a genocidal fuckhead.

That's not to say Strategy games haven't done it. The first Empire Earth game had you play as the Germans from 1914 all the way to the Battle of Britain (which occurs differently here since you actually get to perform Operation Sea Lion)

LOL. Was that supposed to be a come back or defense of WW2 games?

I'm saying that WWII games do the same crap over and over again and switching to the Nazi's side won't be anymore fun. So it was a comeback.

I think WW2 has been played out. Like CoD has had 4 WW2 games, and two modern war games(I.E. GRAW) like there needs to be something completely original

I'm tired of killing other 'real' human beings in game. Why? They all die as easily as the last sod who was unlucky enough to peek or move out of cover to face you. Of course, this doesn't apply to games like ARMA 2 where it's actually a real challenge, and rather satisfying after getting a killing blow, or headshot on an enemy.

I just had the opportunity to finally play Halo 3, and I am amazed at how fun the game is. A well thought universe and interesting foes to battle against. Unlike say, generic arab terrorist #1560BAF who just died for looking in your general direction.

How does this relate to killing Nazis? Well, first Nazis are 'real' human beings with the luck of that guy who always fail no matter how hard they try, and that's trying to not die from you the protagonist.

That said, I think WW2 can be milked more: RTT like Silent Storm was a blast to play, RTS like Company of Heroes became the definitive RTS game for WW2, and what we do lack is, a decent RPG set in WW2 timeline.

Nothing is new. Everything has been done, it's just how you pull it off.
OT: Yes, I'd like to play as the Nazis. But, apparently every time I say that, I'm labeled as an "Idiot". So what if I don't want to play as the side who decided to enter the war for some giggles? And, I don't want to play as the Russians or British either...
If you don't care about characters or plot that's fine but look at it this way: all those WWII games take place in the same few locations France, Germany, Russia, Japan and so on. From a purely gameplay-oriented perspective it's boring to play esentially identical locations in ten different games.

And that comment about "Everything being done before." is just stupid, you're saying every single possible concept that can ever be and will ever be thought of has been thought of? Even if that was possible it probably hasn't been made into a book or a movie or a game yet. This is basically why game's plots usually suck because the creators just say "Well everything has been done before. Let's just make some idiotic WWII FPS that will sell like crack!" and don't even try to come up with something new because it requires too much effort.

Instead of asking them to make a game where you play as the Wehrmacht, how about we just ask for a game NOT set in WWII.

Yes. I totally agree. by the way, i hate all the other games you mentioned to. Just because it has a bigger number after it and it was released yesterday does not mean it is good.

Yay, a fellow COH player!
I don't know any FPS games that let you play as the Wehrmacht, but the Hearts of Iron, a series that combines RTS with TBS elements, lets you play as any nation during WW2, so Germany is an option and it actually is one of the most played nations in the games.

Were you going to do anything with that quote?

OT; Yes, I'm very tired of playing WW2 games killing Nazis and the occasional Nipponese as the conquering wasp-ish manly man or burly Russkie, but I'm more tired of people not using the search bar.

I've seen this same core thread reproduced quite a few times very recently; "Why can't we play as the Nazis?", "Do we always have to shoot Nazis", "WHY SO MANY WW2 GAMES", what have you.

After over 175 posts, I'm surprised at your behavior.

The lack of Axis perspective is mostly prevalent in FPSs since I couldn't name all the strategy games that have Axis campaigns, usually alongside Allied campaigns as well. You just need to look harder. Red Orchestra 2 which is in development at the moment will, from what I've heard, have an Axis campaign, possibly the first FPS to do so. I'd say the original Red Orchestra (which is multiplayer only) has good enough gameplay to be considered having a campaign.

Off the top of my head here's a list of trategy games that I own that have Axis campaigns:

Blitzkrieg
Mission Kursk (Blitzkrieg expansion)
Blitzkrieg II (I'm assuming)
Great Battles of WWII: Stalingrad
Soldiers: Heroes of WWII
Faces of War
Men of War (upcoming expansion will have a Japanese campaign, too)

I know for a fact there's many more I don't own, admittedly all of them are strategy games of some description.
