How do you think that order to a carpenter went down?
"We need about 2,000 planks of wood that make a musical tone and have varying grades on them so that a wooden ball rolling down them will have variable speeds."

Awesome commercial, but man I don't even wanna think about the setup time involved...

Awesome commercial, but it seems like you'd have problems if the phone overheated...

Until the end I thought it was beautiful. I was very very disappointed that it was just an ad.

I wasn't disappointed to find out it was a smartphone ad, I was disappointed that it was one. I saw how awesome it was and I thought this shouldn't be used to advertise wooden phones, it should be advertising nature conservation or something.

Promoting nature conservation by destroying a solid tree or two to put a giant Rube Goldberg machine in the middle of the forest?

How in the world is it being an ad take away from this?

"I just saw the most beautiful painting in the world that change my view on life down to it's core...then I found out it was on a bill board."

The company got people together to build this, I'm happy to see it was an ad. Have you seen japanese ads? They make others look like steven spielberg movies.

Just plant a couple more than you used for the wood and it's perfectly fine.

As a commercial, it wasn't very good. It was long and anticlimactic and just not very good for showing off the phone. Not to mention the obvious problem with "Touch Wood".

But as a musical instrument, it was awesome. I thought it was especially clever how the little guide pieces were changed in width to make the ball hit the notes faster.

Interesting video, but why do I keep getting the feeling it's faked or such in some way? Camera seems too smooth for a downhill in nature, the ability to take many shots all over without anyone in the way, or stopping the ball yet allowing to look around, to have the "perfect" ending where it lands right next to the phone perfectly spaced, and the ability to put the huge thing there without any trees getting in the way by luck?

I don't know, I'm probably over thinking it. Amusing watch, none the less, but still lingering thought in my head.

If a ball falls in a forest and no one is around does it make a sound...

and would it sell 15000 phones?

On topic though:
That's one of the best commercials I've seen in a while, just because it was so awesome! :D

WHY oh WHY would they make a phone out of Cypress? What is the appeal!?!? I think the only thing this phone has going for it is an awesome commercial ad, that's it.

Does the phone come with a recording of that lovely tune? Because that would be a selling point. interesting concept, though.

I dunno. Considering the huge amount of wood it took for them to construct that thing, it would be a little weird if it turned out to be a PSA against deforrestation. Kind of like if Greenpeace tried to raise money to fight whaling by throwing a dolphin barbeqce.

EDIT: In retrospect, I wish I had read one post down and seen that someone already made the same joke, but whatever.
