It's funny that it's so accurate, yet the game probably won't be that much fun.

Prioritize guys, nobody (well, maybe a few) is going to say "LOOK HOW ACCURATE THAT IS! I don't even care if I enjoy it, IT MUST BE MINE!"
Um, maybe the accuracy is part of the fun?

I mean, if it's not for you, it's not for you, but plenty of people enjoy the Gran Turismo series for it's car porn realism, and from what I barely remember from playing GT4 I enjoyed it thoroughly. Don't know if I'll get GT5, though.

OT: That's nutty. It was almost a trance, seeing the two videos side by side, going almost the same way. Crazy.

Whatever the GTA that was for the PS2 was like my favorite racing game of all time.

But when something takes so ludicrously long to develop and also has insanely unnecessary accuracy, I put 2 and 2 together and get annoyed.

Well, coupled with the series creator's sheer obsession and OCD with "perfecting" his game, I also think GT5 took so long because they had to build the engine from scratch, remodeling the cars and such. If that's any indication, maybe GT6 will come by sooner.

But whatever, I myself have yet to play the game but I am intrigued. If you don't like the realism and accuracy of the GT series then it's clearly not for you, but several million people do, so take that how you will. There are definitely more than a few car enthusiasts who just relish the tiny details in the GT series.

Didn't Top Gear do something similar with GT4?
Yeah, they played on Laguna in a corvet, then Clarkson went over to the real track to see could he match his time from the game in real life. He couldnt because of the sheer terror he felt on some of the corners, that didnt have an effect on him in the game.

I know they're really pushing for it to look as real as they can, but I couldnt help notice the grass looked like a single mass of green paint.
It was a Honda NSX Jeremy drove, not a Corvette.

On GT5, I have a few problems with that game. First of all, they've faked the physics in it. It's like there's 10 times the friction in the air when the car isn't attached to the ground with all 4 wheels. The walls are EXTREMELY sticky. You lose 90% of your mass if you hit another car from behind. It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to recover from a fishtale at any speed. The front wheels change direction too slowly. It's nearly impossible to drift, or do any technical dirt/snow course because of that. You can't turn when you're braking hard. You can't turn when you're accelerating hard.
...That's a long list.
