It's supposed to get hot next week, and ERCOT says they expect a record usage of electricity.
How likely is it that we have power outages?

Not likely. ERCOT's grid has handled Texas heat forever; they're simply covering their bases/asses since their quite public shit-show in February when they were exposed for not being able to handle abnormally cold temperatures. I was here a few years ago when we had a record-setting numbers of days of +100 degree weather, and as yet, I don't see anything near as threatening as that, but if ERCOT wants us to believe the threat is nigh because of reasons... okay; A/C is turned up and bills are paid; their turn to do their job.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
This seems oddly appropriate.

Actually there are still issues with the grid having repairs from the winter storm in places so we aren't as solid as usual. I still think the likely hood is rather low, but it is good to think about things.
