The Trabant 501 - It's pretty obvious that the Communist regimes of the East didn't think much of the car - almost all of their efforts were hideously bad, and even the ones that weren't reached mediocre at best. The Trabant, symbol of East Germany, is a good example of the cheap rubbish that the Communists forced upon their citizens. The two-stroke engines are inefficient, the gearbox is terrible and the body is made from a cheap blend of pulped cardboard and plastic. Even the most adamant of the "I only want a car to drive me from A to B" crowd would balk at using a Trabant. I mean, you have to have some standards, right?
