Worst Demo I've Ever Played

For those who don't know, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was released on Xbox Live Arcade today. I had never played that game before, but it seemed to have gotten a lot of praise from the gaming community. So, I decided to try the demo.

When I did play the demo, after waiting several minutes for it to download, I was in for a surprise. See, rather than do what, say, Street Fighter II on XBLA did and give you limited characters in a single player mode to allow you to try the game, this game only allows local multiplayer. So, if you're like me and don't have a second controller, you're screwed.

Do you think this is fair of Capcom/Backbone Entertainment to do this? While we're at it, what's the worst demo you've played?

What!? How are you going to do 10,000 billion damage if you have nothing to hit!?

On a side note: I liked the Spore creature creator's creature creator better than the final game's.

That's abit of a strange demo limitation choice.

Most recently I downloaded Battlefield 2942 demo, only for the servers you need to connect to to completely not work. Granted its an old game but they could have whacked a singleplayer bit in just to see if I enjoyed the game mechanics over BF2.

I don't think its unfair, the game was specifically made to be multiplayer. But, that still sucks. I'd still get Marvel vs. Capcom though, because it is a great tag-team fighting game. The worst demo I've played, was probably the H.A.W.X. demo. It was horrifying.

I downloaded that today, so I feel your pain... It does seem rather weird of them to NOT inculde a singleplayer demo...

Well, I don't believe that really counts since you never technically played it.

OT: I've heard that Soul Reaver on the PS1 was a good game, but I refuse to play it after the terrible, 5-minute long demo I tried out.

I played that demo a long time ago (like 10 years ago) so I don't remember that much of it but I liked it from what I remember.

Maybe we played a different demo, because the one I played was just boring.

Enemy territory quake wars. Aweful, aweful demo. I swear, the number of people who were pro at that demo (you know, the things that are designed to attract NEW players) was absolutely staggering. Not to mention that I found the game to be a massive disappointment overall.

In the other direction, I think I logged more time into Red Faction Guerrilla demo than I did the full game.

The game is much greater than the demo. It gets a bit boring at times but those times are few and far between imo. I still preferred the original blood omen though.

OT: the worst demo I ever played was the fight night round 4 demo. It had a terrible selection of boxers (even for a demo) and I just sucked at it even though I dominated in the third one.

I think Ghostbusters: The Video Game. That demo was awful. That said, I haven't played many demos. My favorite would be UFC: Undisputed.

There was too much fighting and not enough running/exploring.

Mine was one of those with a bunch of games on it.
I think it had a demo for one of the Cool Boarders games to.

Nah, that's the same one I played. Oh well, guess we just have different opinions.

Edit: Oops. Anybody know how to fix that?

Aww I loved that demo! Played it constantly up until retail release day. I had played alot of both Quake and Enemy Territory before though.

Hope Wolfenstein gets a demo...

Since the game was sort of meant to be played with more than one person, I assume that they intended the demo to give you a basic idea of what the experience would be like. I'd say that it worked very well to this end, as I played it with a friend, and decided that I would purchase it later in the day.

Worst demo I've played? Guitar Hero at Gamestop. They didn't have the guitar hooked up and I tried to play with the controller.

Playing wih the control is actually really fun, even if it detracts from the supposed 'realism' of playing with the guitar.

OT: Worst demo i've downloaded has to be Fuel... oh my god that game is BORING.

So what? You thought the game was crap... so you bought it... and then thought it was great so you played the demo?
