This has probably been done to death in the past but I'm some people will have had their rage renewed and there might even be some new users with fresh rage of their own. This is the internet after all.

So, what in your respectable opinions is the very worst accent to grace my mother tongue? You can stay general if you fancy it or you go down to the geographic specifics of town and the physiologic ones of gender. But no further really.

I think I am going to have go with Lancastrian (north west England), specifically Prestonian. I do really dislike a lot of the kinda cockney accents and southern USA but this one is ahful. Almost all others are fine like Irish accents, english as second language accents (even if incomprehensible) and the rest.

My coice is Lancastrian

I'm from North East England and not that well travelled.

You know all those White American kids who despite living in a Sub-Urban area still try to act "gangsta" to look cool? I pick that one.

Canadian. Probably French Canadian.
Luckily, I don't sound Canadian at all, which is odd... and everyone I know has an American accent which is also odd (except for the occasional "eh"... but I suppose it kind of makes sense when you live close to the border.

The Deep South drawl.

Hmm, no hate on us Aussies yet? I'm amazed.
Why would anyone hate the Aussie accent? It pretty much automatically adds +10 charisma when ever used! It doesn't matter how stupid something someone is saying if (s)he has the accent, because you can't resist not loving them for the way they talk any ways!
Edit: Can I change my answer to stereotypical American Female teenager? "Like, oh, my gosh it just sounds like sooo totally stupid"

Because us Canadians really do say "oot" or "aboot". All the time, eh.

Probably Southern American, that southern drawl grates on my ears.

I'd say southern USA, but it depends on how thick it is. A light drawl can be really sexy in a woman.
To be honest, the first time I heard Minnesotan, I burst out laughing. I was only 5, but they still got mad at me.
Fortunately, in California, we don't have much of an accent beside the standard american one, but we do have the worst slang ever.

Southern drawl. (with parameters) Any accent is off putting and ugly when spoken by the incredibly idiotic- but southern drawl is particularly worse to my ears.

Prime example is Nancy Grace.
It's her lack of intelligence and her bigotry combined with being PROUD of those qualities that makes you want to rip off your ears.

That's what you think. I grew up in California, and any time I go somewhere beyond the rocky mountains, people always think I'm stoned because apparently I have the stereotypical "California speech pattern."

Since people here probably watch Yahtzee, they've probably gotten used to it. Even if he is British borne, there is a little bit of Aussie in it, though I could just be deaf

This will cause too much hate. I refuse to join in.
Mmm. I thought about this fact after typing my OP but Jim sterling is just such unsavoury man that he soured my view of the world enough for me to hate on accents in general.

Fair enough I guess but i don't agree. There's nout wrong with all that "oot"ing and "eh"ing is my bread and butter so I feel some empathy with my fellow "eh"ers.

Dutch English. I am Dutch myself but grew up in Greece. Greek have it hard because the language is totally different when spoken.
The Dutch language hardly has any differences. So they have no excuse to speak it this awfully. Yech.

american bubble-gum english. i am not sure that it can be pin-pointed down to a specific area, i don't know the usa well enough for that, but american accent(s) are often a pain in the ear for me.

especially first and foremost this weird r-sound that i cannot really describe in written language.

I find people think I'm stoned and a dealer as soon as they find out I'm from California. People have asked me for weed solely based on knowing where I'm from, without hearing me talk.
