Title pretty much says it. What game do you think had the worst way to propel the plot/story forward, and what was said way?

The worst I can think of off the top of my head is that stupid owl from Ocarina of Time. Just minutes of endless monologue that bored me to tears. And then every time I saw him again after that, I couldn't help but swear at the screen. Thank goodness he more or less fades away about 1/3 into the game.

Seeing as how I can't think of a good one I can only assume that they're all terrible.

However, off the top of my head, unskippable cutscenes which have pivotal plot information are probably the worst.

pretty much any character that runs into the game, says something like "the soldiers are over there! lets get them!" and promptly dies. They could have just marked my map instead of making me stand around waiting for something to trigger.

How can you not love that music that accompanies him?

It tends to get lost on me when all I want to do is get to the castle/next temple/obligatory town before the next temple. My hate blocks it out. XD

This! I hated that stupid owl. Everyone complains about Navi, but I found that damn owl more annoying than Navi. At least I could ignore Navi most of the time, but that damn owl's monologues couldn't be skipped and he wouldn't shut up. He was even worse in Link's Awakening which was his first appearance, because he appeared more often and just kept talking and talking and talking....

Lost Odyssey has dreams you can un-lock and if you open it it is an all text story that goes on forever and has no plot significance

i have no specifics for now but any game that doesn't allow you to skip plot exposition openings/video cut scenes. which annoy me to hell..
when i play the game for a second time (unless it's been a long time)
i want to be able to skip past the exposition i know already..

I always get rather annoyed by "your character is abducted by government agents who force you to work for them, and tell you everything about what they want you to do, and why, and send you on your way". I can't think of a game at the moment, but it has happened to me several times and it feels so cliched now.

When your character has amnesia and you find things out only after the point at which that information might have been useful.

The more often used version of this would be, "Sniper!" *Head is now missing, or on the floor in pieces.*

I guess something like that happens in GTA 4 with U. L. Paper. Also sounds like something I've seen in movies.

I hate dramatic cutscenes shown like a History Channel dramatization of a major battle with a boring narrator droning on about each side's motivations.

Assassins Creed. I hate how at the beginning no matter what when you load a memory you have to listen to your master talk on and on about your mission. You cant even freaking skip it.

The minute a narrator appears I get immensely bored. That's why I loved it so much when someone hacks him down in Monty Python's Holy Grail.

Agreed, I actually thought the dream element would be revealed at the end, not that your character always knew about it. Oh well, that's Ubisoft for you lol.
