Psychonauts crashed because of my video drivers, right at the final boss of the game. Eventually I fixed it, but it was fucking annoying at first.

welcome to the escapist ... gta4 on ps3 before the patch, the game froze and had to redue a chase mission that took 10 attempts to finally finish ... saints row 2 froze during a final stronghold battle

and possibly the worse of all , didn't save after 4 hours of play and the power went out during a thunderstorm

If you are one of the three people that has played EcoQuest 2: Lost Secret of the Rainforest you'll know that the game crashes at one particular spot all the time (when Adam's spirit becomes one with the sacred tree..or something like that). Little naive me was always upset that my Windows 95 was preventing me from continuing on the quest of awesomeness!.

Turns out it was an error in the game coding.

the crashes on Empire Total War

that was a trainwreck of a game

I remember one night I got so angry I grabbed my own hand to stop myself punching the keyboard, and in doing so, I cut off the circulation to that hand (I gripped THAT hard)

That game made me hate a company more than anything else before or after

damn you, CA

Discworld Noir on the PS1. I was about 6 hours in and it crashed by not letting me leave a conversation. My GF at the time decided to oversave and restart only to find that the save opened in that conversation and that I couldn't exit.

Saying that, I replayed and only took 3 hours to get to that point again, so 3 hours isn't the end of the world... it just felt it at the time. I was only 23 and full of wangst.

A friend of mine managed to crash a quiz machine in a pub. The screen turned into a spectacular haze of pink and black lines.

We reset the power to the machine and found it was running on Windows XP. Even more surprisingly, the money that my friend had put into it was still there. He ended up losing it though.

Saving a 60 to 70 hour game on FFVII and the game crashes, corrupting the file and weeks of my life.

Probably pokemon yellow, I got from the water badge to the fire badge in one sitting and forgot to save for the entire time, then the battery ran out.

I shall take my post from another thread and paste it onto here

I was playing Oblivion and I had just geeked out for 25+ hours doing sidequests, leveling, and loot gathering. And was now the single most powerful being on the continent even on the highest difficulty. I had some AMAZING spells that I had either bought or made that could kill anything in one hit. I even tested them out on myself using the cloning glitch and ended up killing my clone in one hit (although I suspect the game weakened him). I had an enchanted zero weight helmet that gave me 100% chameleon, a zero weight curaiss that feathered me 200 points, boots that gave me 100 health and gloves that gave me 100 magicka and greaves that gave me another hundred magicka. I had an amulet that let me breathe underwater as well. Unfortunately, I hadn't saved once. Guess what happened? Yup, my 360 froze, I haven't played Oblivion since.

(please don't attack me for liking the game... I've come to the conclusion that ALL mmorpgs are bad. You just have to figure out which bad is the least annoying for you that counts.)

My Age of Conan likes to cause my screen to go black and give a small sound loop before nothingness.. I'm pretty sure it's causing something in my computer to overheat, but seeing as how some of my computer smart buddies are scratching their heads over this, that it's something that usually doesn't happen in terms of games causing your computer to wtf melt.

The only way I can get back to playing is by hard-resetting the computer and taking 5 years to restart the game.

It happens so randomly in game that I can't even pinpoint what causes it... I'm sure some one will say "That's what you get for playing AoC." But whatever, I enjoy the game :p

The weirdest part is, this NEVER happens when I'm in a raid... I feared raiding the most because I figured with so much going on at once, that would be the key time for my computer to question my gaming preferences and just say nay to being willing to run it.

Nope, raiding is the safest time for playing AoC, it only crashes outside of the raid when I'm by myself doing god knows what...

I was playing Crysis, and I am not sure but I think my graphics card temporarily overheated. The game crashed into a blue screen with artifacts and made squealing noises. It was frightening.
