So I lost my job a few months ago and it is taking a while to get a new one as there are a fuck tonne of people looking as well. This has resulted in me being bored out of my skull. So to help kill the bordem I fired up my PS2 and started playing FF X. Now FF X is one of my favorite games and my 2nd favorite FF (FF 9 being my favorite)but their is one thing. The chocobo mini game.

Background: In order to get one of the ultimate weapons you need to race a guy on a chocobo with a time of 0.00. To do this you have to collect balloons which shave 3 secs of your final time. You have to dodge birds that add 3 secs whenever you hit them. Here is the problem. The controls are shit! You go in one direction to dodge something and you go the other way for no reason and hit it. And because of the camara angle you line up to pick up a balloon and then find that you miss it by about a centermeter.

How did the creator of this minigame play this and think to themself 'yes, people will love this!'

I really hated the lock picking mini-game in Oblivion. Whenever I start a new profile on that game I always try to go for the Skeleton Key as soon as I can. Until then I just I buy loads of lock picks and auto-attempt everything. Losing all those lock picks is nothing compared to not having to deal with that crappy mini-game.

Blockheads in Okami. No, they don't appear often but bear with me. I last played Okami on the Wii where the controls weren't always as responsive as you'd expect. As an added extra I have some nerve damage in my dominant hand. I tell you, I had the concentration of a jedi with my two handed grip while doing the later ones.

Your complaint is Chocobo Hot And Cold? Surely, you can find something ALOT worse than that. My sister and I both took up the challenge and enjoyed going at it as a break from combat.

If you're gonna go the Final Fantasy route, then I'll see your Chocobo and raise you anything from FF8, which is already covered in mediocrity. This sure as hell includes the card game, which FF9 did completely better as is.

No my complaint is about FF X. Chocobo hot and cold was piss easy.

Oh, sorry about that. The sentence was ambiguous enough that I misinterpreted.

Alpha Protocol's lockpicking minigames and hacking ones.

I really love how apparently a busted ass door in Bumfuckistan apparently just happens to be rigged to the alarm system on a timer - and just happens to not allow me to say, exit and try again, instead making the task more difficult. Especially painful if you're trying to do full stealth run throughs and the alarm turns a simple infiltration mission into a killing field. Oh, did I mention the horrid sensitivity based design that makes the task that much more difficult?

And the hacking minigames... great design. I just love miniature ass routes and even tighter timelimits that turns a simple hack into aformentioned killing field scenario. But hey, I can at least exit out of them and try again, or just use EMP devices!

Oh Jesus, the Blockheads! I forgot about those. They're so frustrating, especially the last one. That's just the limit of ridiculousness with that one. I don't know how it compares to the Wiimote but it's a damn pain on the PS2 controller.
