I hold no hopes for The Creature From The Black Lagoon remake, oh and The Birds remake as well.

Yes it's going to happen.

I won't see it, because I read a synopsis and they've botched it entirely. I refuse to see The Day The Earth Stood Still. In the original, humanity fucked up first contact and he still gave them a chance. It was a great movie. It was a masterpiece. The remake? Hopefully forgotten soon in the annals of cinema.
I rather liked the remake, although I didn't see the original, and refuse to on the case it's black and white.

To be honest, I'm not sure which of the films I've seen are remakes
Not seeing a movie because it's in black and white? A travesty, I tell you. No Citizen Kane, M, Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb, Sergeant York, or even It's A Wonderful Life? There are more, but to write a movie off based solely on the fact that it is black and white? A shame. Truly.

Well, thats a bit sad for you, missing out on some amazing cinema just because its not been recorded in colour... Does that go for all black and white films? because you are missing out on a LOT of good films :p

I have been told, but I just cannot deal with black and white, they're old, sound quality is bad, to be honest I barley watch anything from pre-1980 really, I've grown to accustomed to good quality picture and sound and bad picture and sound bugs me and takes away from the experience

You have no idea what you're missing. No skin off my back, but you don't know what you're missing. Also, I don't know where you're coming from with the lower quality bit. That's just not true.

I'm quite surprised no-ones mentioned the God-awful Transformers film. It is so rubbish; dumb characters, embarrassing jokes, a stupid plot and the main flaw is it wasn't about the Transformers like the original.

I'll do the opposite, I'll try to list the good remakes I can think of:

Battlestar Galactica - my all-time top remake - faithful where it counts, innovative where it needed to be.

...hmm, try as I might, I can't think of any other good remakes! I hear a remake of Robocop is in the works, directed by the awesome Darren Aronofsky. I hope it does well, though I'm cautious.

I dread the day someone will try to remake classics like Escape from New York or (God forbid) Back To The Future.

It's just that it's black and white, that's lower quality in my head, anyway these points aside, you can compare my dislike of B&W movies to Eric Cartmans dislike of Hippies. I'm just like that.

No, see hippies are dirty and smelly. They have few, if any, redeeming qualities. Black and white films can be awesome. Not all, and being black and white does not instill quality, but there are good black and white films.

Dirty hippies. Cartman's got it right.
