Worst repetition in a game? "Hey, listen!"
For the Win.

In all seriousness, the worst repetition for me is when a game doesn't record enough dialogue in games. This is especially true for sports games. It gets to the point in some of those games where I just turn the commentators off and listen to the on-ice/on-field/on-court sounds instead.

CoD: W@W. Hard Landing, Veteran difficulty. The very end where you have to defend against the counter attack, two tanks come along, which can't be taken out using the mounted machine guns, and any time you went near the AA guns, every single gun and tank magnetically swiveled towards me, killing me before I could even get off again...

I did this about 30 times over the course of 2 days, when suddenly I realised: "Hey! this isn't Super mario Bros.! I can just go back and get the bazooka I was using earlier that has a refill point with infinite ammo!"

God I hated myself when I realised that I hadn't thought of it earlier...
You found that hard? I thought that it was one of the easiest parts of veteran. I just sat in the corner for about 10 minutes before popping up and killing about 3 of them before it ended.

Final Fantasy 12.

Grinding my f*cking ass off.
Have to agree with that one. It's part of what kept me from enjoying the game.

Assassin's Creed was the biggest pain in the ass when it came to repetition. Go to this place, climb 12 insanely tall towers, save these useless people, kill this guy, report back. Sure it was fun for the first 3-4 times but after that it felt like a chore. And I know that you didn't have to climb the towers and save all those people but it was for achievements and I am an achievement whore. Oh and happy birthday!
Assassins Creed should have just been traveling to a city, staking out the area/ stalking the target, then killing them. The side missions wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't the same 3 missions in EVERY city.

For me it was Mirrors Edge. Don't get me wrong I liked the idea and when you had a good run going it was bliss but more often then not it was a constant -wallrun, jump, fall, wallrun, jump, fall- over and over.

Oh and Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Good Lord, you must suck at the blacksmithing minigame!

I have to agree that Assassin's Creed really lost a lot of its awesomeness once you are forced to save random person #60 or collect pointless flag #300. Its missions were set up all in the exact same fashion, so the only variety was in the actual assassinations and in free-running.

What do you get when you win that by the way?
You get the Fenrir keychain, which is more powerful than Ultima Weapon (but isn't as good Magic-wise)

OT: How about Wind Waker, trying to find all the Triforce charts. Partly cause you need lots of money to do it, partly cause...well, to put it bluntly, it's dull.
I was especially annoyed with one island where I thought I hadn't found it and I had, so I spent a couple of hours just going all over the place for no reason.

Today, my heavy dose of repetition came courtesy of PuzzleQuest: Galackatackatrixica (?!)

Happy Birthday! For me it's probably the mind numbing repetition of routine in the sims. do the same thing for a week until you have enough money to take one day out of the monotonous cycle. rinse and repeat.

I did the exact same thing. But it is even worse when the radio guy gets trapped in the landscape (this has happened to me twice) since all you can do is restart the whole level.

As for worst repetition, the recent Wolverine game got into the bad habit of having you beat the same fucking super mutated army experiment that took like, 30 hits to kill (which you had to jump on it's back to hit it in short intervals as well) for four times in a row every twenty minutes.

Singing:

Happy birthday to you
Don't buy Far Cry 2
It's really annoying
And repetitive too

You'll just start to yawn
When the bad guys respawn
It's a bad game to own yeah
But a good one to pawn

Gears of war 2.
Duck, run, shoot, duck, shoot, duck, run, shoot, shoot, duck, shoot, run.

Its monotony is only broken up by the ungodly bad vehicle levels. I include the brumak as a vehicle by the by.

That monstrosity was not a game. What possessed then when they decided people should have a job in a game I will never know.

As a person who owns every single building in that game, let me suggest what is BY FAR the best way to make money. Once you've gotten a little capital together, buy up all (or as many as you can) the weapons at the Bloodstone weapons shop. Fast travel back to Fairfax Gardens and sell all the goods back to them. Because Fairfax is a 5 star economy and Bloodstone is a 2 or 3 star economy, you'll make a significant profit from merchanting like this. Then, obviously you'll want to start buying up real estate so you have a massive steady income.

Repetition?

Hmmm...

-Assassin's Creed.
-Some RPGs, mainly Final Fantasy, SMT and probably all MMOs, although I peronally only played one in my entire life. For only a week. Because I HAD to review it.
-Maxing all weapons in Ratchet & Clank games.
-Racegame, seriously, I've got Burnout: Revenge (PS2) and Motorstorm (PS3) and I still have to play them out, simply because I'm sick and tired of doing the same 5 or 6 courses over and over again. Who cares the AI gets harder? Who cares you get new cars? It's all the same to me! *sigh* Does it show that I don't like racing games? Forget it, each his own...

I was totally ready to complain about the chorus to Cyanide but I guess not.
but repetition isn't a real problem for me because i tend to stop once get bored of it and never play it again so I don't have to deal with it.

Then you get to grind like crazy to get to level 99. That's two counts of repetition!

For me, probably MapleStory. That game is the epitome of grinding. Even the QUESTS are grinding.
It was fun, but you HAD to grind to get anywhere near powerful enough to explore so you could grind some more...

Also OP, just rent out a house in Fable 2, from what I've seen you'll never need money after that ever, so buy the cheapest one you can find to rent.

Alternatively, stealing money works I hear. =P
