So I was playing Mount&Blade just before, and I accidentally ran into a king of an enemy nation. Now, I had about 80-85 troops with me, and this guy (King Yaroglek), had well over 220. Through sheer dedication, skill, tactics, and time, I managed to overcome this monarch in battle, although it took me round abouts 90 minutes to finish.

I sent the scamp running, but not only that, I also saved the innocent fortress the king was laying siege upon. I felt higher than a kite. I went to the Captive page, and took on a few of his best captives as my men. The mass slaughter ended up as a blessing, as it allowed me to purge the weak units from my force and replace them with knights, heavy lancers, expert horse bowmen, etc. Mid way through taking his remaining forces captive, however, my game suddenly cut to the desktop.

"Mount&Blade has stopped working"

I nearly cried. I went back and checked, and no, it didn't save. In fact, I hadn't saved for quite a while beforehand.

So, what's your most inopportune game crash, and how did it effect your sanity? (I'm expecting to see a whole lot of Morrowind/Oblivion here)

I'm sure I've had worse in the past, but the most recent one I can remember was this:

Team Fortress 2; Goldrush (Payload), Stage 3. I'm on BLU and playing as a spy. On stage 3, there's a side-path in the cliff to the left of the BLU spawn, with a small grotto under a ledge which faces the gates (and the direction of the payload cart). So during setup, I'm tucked into this little nook with the Cloak and Dagger (read: invisible with a cloak that only drains when you move) when just as the round starts, an RED demoman and medic come rushing up the side passage to flank the rest of my team. The medic pops his ubercharge (non-TF2 people - that's temporary invincibility) just as they reach the gate, and the medic and demoman rush towards the rest of the team (past me). I uncloak and come up behind them just as the uber ends looking for two easy backstabs. Just as the backstab animation hits on the medic, my graphics driver goes kaput; screen goes black and the sound loops over the last split second again and again. Needless to say, when the computer recovers, I've respawned; having been killed by the demoman I was a split second away from getting myself. I had a serious rage at my computer for a few minutes after that...

Halo 3 crashing while trying to get the Annual Achievement. Cue one extremely loud, "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK" that you could probably hear from three houses away.

Ugh, that time in Batman: Arkham Asylum when I was like skulking around in a corridor and then suddenly the screen got all flickery and shit.

I was so annoyed, especially when it loaded me back to the opening cut-scene again...
And if THAT wasn't bad enough the game must've broken itself, kept telling me to push the J button and Joker was in Batman's place..
I couldn't believe it...

In the end I had to just give the seller their faulty game back...

StarCraft, the second mission I think where you have to defend the base for 30 minutes. I had a dodgy pirated copy at the time (bought it earlier this week) and as soon as the game says that I have finished the mission after 30 mins, the game crashed. Twice in a row. Super raging followed afterwards.

I know how you feel [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fafoVeHBacg]

EXACT same thing happened to me. Of course, this was with the actual game disk inside of it. And don't get me started on the last mission in Brood Wars with Kerrigan.

On Evil Genius, I had just gotten my second island, already had the plans for my WMD, and had finally killed the Super-Agent who had been trying to kick my mastermind's ass..

Then, it crashed. But not just once, twice, nor thrice times. It happened EVERY GOD DAMNED TIME I LOADED THE SAVE!

Needless to say, I raged, and killed a few puppies.

I'm still doing the Terran Campaign from the original game, I'm up to the mission called Norad II where you have to fight through all the Zerg colonies so you can get Raynor to the Norad II ship after repairing it. It's a bit late at the moment for me (3:10am) so I'm forgetting why Raynor needed to get to the ship at the moment.

Also, would you be able to help me with the Campaign Editor at all? I wanted to make this level where there is just one raised platform in the middle with no ramps leading up to it, with some Marines stationed on there fighting off about 1000 Zerglings on the ground.

I went to make it earlier and I started putting Zerglings on the ground then after a while a little message came up saying "No more than 200 units per player" or something like that and didn't let me put any more down.

Would you know how to let me put hundreds upon hundreds of units on the map?

It is part of the game. It's one of those awesome mindfucks games sometimes pull on you, like when Eternal Darkness tricked you into thinking your memory card was broken and you just lost all your saved files.

[sub]If you where just playing along for shits and giggles I am sorry for acting like a knowitall[/sub]

Got up to the top of that fucking tower in Denerim... SPOILER ALERT... Killed the Archdemon, and then, as I started arguing with Alistair over which of us should be the one to sacrifice themselves for the greater good... the game crashes... Now... I was able to load the game from the beginning of the fight with the Archdemon, but I mean come on!!!!

The worst time my game crashed was when I was playing Final Fantasy 12 and I had just defeated the strongest hunt in the game. But right as I was about to go and save my game crashed.

Internet went down during an 18 kill streak on Wasteland.

That sucked, because at the time it was my highest streak.
