Fahrenheit. Wait, no, sorry, that became a pile of fuck-shit once the plot unravels. So, so fucking stupid. The ending was just a pile of arse added to an already huge pile of arse(s).

MINECRAFT!

But really, I'd have to go with my least favorite ending being Modern Warfare 2, for sheer bullshittery. Not only can he suddenly pull a knife out of himself, but then throw it with perfect accuracy into the right guy and save the world. I'm sorry.

Also, the multi-death along the way just kinda ruined it for me.

And remember kiddies, always remember to pull your knife out.
Double entendre possibly intended.

Various Castlevania's, for when they do that 'fake ending' thing. Unless you know its a staple of the series, it can be very frustrating and confusing.

This. I finished and was getting ready to turn my xbox when I realised what was happening. Weirdest fucking ending ever!
I didn't make it that far. Stopped playing on account of how bland the game was. Watched the ending on Youtube. My first though was 'ew' and my second thought was 'fuck that shit'.

Who the hell comes up with that stuff? I still stand by my opinion that Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate are the best F.E.A.R. games ever.

See that, games industry? Notice how every game in that list was a sequel? Yeah, they're getting old.

Most disappointing ending imo... Halo 2, KotOR 2 or Dragon Age 2.

As an aside, the best endings for games I've played in this generation were those of Red Dead and the original ME.

FarCry 2; all you achieve is a pile of bodies, an even more unstable country and a lot of ruined locales. Oh yeah, you help the civilians of the country escape so they can spend the rest of their existence in refugee camps over the border as their country ceases to be. And to top it off you are going to die of malaria so you either blow your brains out with a Desert Eagle or atomise yourself with bomb in order to complete the final mission. That was a pretty depressing anticlimax ending.

KOTOR 2; the ending seems like it should be stopping Nihlus from destroying Telos, but then you beat him and travel to Malachor V and fight Traya and her minions in what I would only describe as a grind-fest; room after room after room after room of Sith, soldiers and more Sith. Then you have the laughably easy fight against Sion who earlier you were to run from because 'he can't be killed' and proceed to kill him in less than 60 seconds by spamming Force Crush on him so he can't fight back. Then there is the fight with Traya herself, followed by the ridiculous Benny Hill-moment running away from the floating lightsabers. You have the really pointless discussion with her before she dies, the end. When compared to KOTOR's ending, its really unsatisfying.

Modern Warfare 2; four levels from the end of the campaign, the developers realised that they needed to wrap things up and so made some bullshitty betrayal plot up and then cliffhangered the game. Not a surprise, considering how much I hated the clichéd plot; America is invaded by the Russians, well I never!

Golden Sun really pissed me off the first time I played it. I was loving the game and then BAM it just ends right in the middle of the plot. I was so pissed that I wiped my save file (I had borrowed the game from someone). When I brought it back and they told me there was a second game that continues the story, I stopped being mad though. In fact, they had wanted to use my completion save to help them out with their progress through the second game that I decided to play the first one again (like I said, I was really loving the game until it goes "THE END LOLOLOLOL").

And then Golden Sun: Dark Dawn pulled the same shit, except even worse because it spent 80%-90% of itself on a side quest, and you don't even get back to main story until AFTER the credits finished rolling. That's right, you get back on track in the little tiny super-prologue scene. Real nice.

This. Fallout 3's original ending was so terrible. Thankfully they came to their senses and retconned it.

Borderlands. Seriously, what were they thinking? I was loving the game until the final confrontation.
This one too. You get that utterly terrible ending, and then they throw down one final slap in the face by going "Okay, now that you've seen the credits, take this trinket back to some lady who wants to buy it for what is a very small fraction of the massive fortune of money you have acquired by now." Oh gee thanks Borderlands, sprinkling a few more pennies on my already massive money pile that I can't buy anything with because all the weapons for sale are shit compared to my character now really takes the sting off of that ending you just made me sit through.

The ending of Link's Awakening on the gameboy. Wake the windfish destroying the island and the people on it because you want to go home.
You mean those people who weren't real on that island that wasn't real? Dammit Link you selfish fuck, stop killing all those non-existent innocent people so you can stop drifting unconscious in the sea and save a real creature from being tormented by real monsters.

Seriously dude, maybe you should go play that game again, it sounds like you didn't understand the plot very well.

Any ending wear the main character disappears for some unknown reason and the player will never get to know why or where (Kotor games and DA games)

And Fable 2, obviously...

I think ME should have been one game. End with the reapers stuck in darkspace hibernating. Its more interesting then knowing you havent actually stopped the big bad guys, but at the same time you saved the day... For now. Besides Mass effect 2 was a bad story, and due how ME3 is going to be *reapers arive, reapers own, shepard finds easily exploited flaw in reapers, shepard wins* its just going to be rushed and terrible I know it. You shouldnt be able to beat them in battle or anything, but thats whats goijg to happen.
That's hardly a thrilling conclusion :p
I agree that defeating the Reaper fleet is unlikely in the extreme - except that it'll happen - and about ME2. The plot could have jumped straight from ME1 to ME3, and it still would have made sense. ME2 was a great game, but the story seemed a little tacked on.

Anyway, I liked ME1's ending as it was, with that super dramatic space battle happening while you fight your way through the Citadel. The drama was handled more masterfully there than anything I'd seen in a long time.

I'm sure that, as we play through it, ME3's plot will make a lot of sense, but when we step back and look at it, it'll seem really contrived.

KOTOR 2, there's sort of an excuse, Lucas Arts gave Obsidian hardly a year to get the game out (right after the first one) and alot of content had to be cut.

But NWN2's ending was just, awful. Terrible, makes everything you did in the game seem pointless. The expansion at least retconned some of it though.
So Obsidian makes awesome games that are only awesome because they are sequels to Bioware games, but still manage to fuck it up at the end. And then they make Alpha Protocol...

Sorry for the digression. Worst game ending ever... I keep thinking of Advent Rising, if anyone remembers that game. I don't know why.

I did not enjoy most of the second disc of Xenogears. After the first disc began a the compelling adventure with mecha and religious intrigue, the second disc abruptly altered the game's tone with long periods of exposition, cutscenes and too many jumps in time. It felt exactly as if the development studio had run out of time & money for a storyline that was too big for a single game, but they were determined to cram that entire storyline in anyway. Because the first half of the game had raised such high expectations for me, the crummy execution of the second half made for the least satisfying ending of any game I've played.

Of course, the failure of Xenogears led to the Xenosaga series of games. No doubt the developers' choices making those games were informed by their failure with Xenogears.

I ust think its silly plot at this point and it will end dissapointing, if your going to make a godlike enemy, they should win simple as. Imagine if it was say, cthulu waking up and someone killing him with a pistol. That it how I see ME, in ME2 you didnt learn anything, your in the same place as ME1 (only more plotholes) and 1 reaper in ME1 owned a fleet, they either have to weaken them, (which cheapens them, why make hem so damn strong in the first place ?) or they will have some obvious exploit. Either way I think the ending will leave me dissapointed. Why make something that powerful only to have it beaten so easily ? Its jsut stupid, if they made it balenced thats fine, but this will jsut end badly.
Actually, I agree with you. There's no realistic way in which we could destroy a fleet of Reapers, especially considering that Bioware has to account for everyone who didn't gather support in the previous games. My guess is that we'll discover some relic of those who created the Reapers, or we'll beat the crap out of them with Dark Energy. I still have faith in Bioware to make an interesting and exciting plot, but it's blind faith. Realistically, the Reapers should beat the crap out of us, and Bioware's dug itself into a hole here.

Motherfucking Bioshock. The bad ending didn't even make sense.
The bad ending did make sense. Basically, Fontaine didn't want to control Rapture for the lulz or because he hated Ryan, it was so he would control the supply of ADAM. His ultimate goal was to bring ADAM to the surface, and the rest of the world, as a commodity with him being the sole provider. It would wreck havoc on civilization, but he didn't care as it would make him rich. He tells you this in the radio transmissions. So, if you harvest the Little Sisters, you're basically just being an uncaring bastard, so the bad ending is that you basically take Fontaine's place. You re-enable surface travel and take Fontaine's (now your) army of splicers to the top where you jack a sub and do what he was going to do.

All that being said I do wish the cinematics would've been longer and elaborated more after all that work. I wish the good ending would've shown more how Jack turned out. Oh well, I still think the game kicked ass.

For me, in a weird way, Half Life 2 was a wall-banger. It looked awesome, but then... "Time Mr. Freeman? Yes, it's time to put you in the freezer again." And then it was just like the end of Half Life 1. This was until Episode One came out, and then it made the ending totally awesome.

Everything you worked so hard for gets taken away from you
This, this, a thousand times this.

Even the bleugh love interest just goes "why?" and I have to agree, "why" did I just do that?

I tried to get back into the prince of persia games after playing the original on DOS, the sands of time and then briefly renting the one that came after it when you have lots of whippy chains and are half evil, and it was the most disappointing game ever and really killed me ever going near prince of persia again I feel >_>.

Combat is shocking, puzzle solving through areas is trivial and shallow, pointlessly easy and then ontop of it the STORY IS MADE OF ARSES.

Mafia 2

Now I LOVE Mafia 2 but what the fuck was that?
the main thing about vito?s personality was that he is ridiculously loyal to his friends and the people he works for , they spent 15H drilling that into him. And what? at the end he just leaves his best friend to die? WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?

Edit: also Dreamfall: the Longest Journey?. I was so sad ?I NEED closure * /cry*
