There have been some really good remakes, and then there have been some terrible ones.
My vote personally is for Bionic Commando: Rearmed, and Turtles In Time: Re-Shelled.
Don't get me wrong, Bionic Commando: Rearmed had some of the best music I've ever heard in a game, but the game is frustratingly hard. Now I know that a game being hard doesn't necessarily make it bad, but ugh. It could have been a great game. COULD HAVE BEEN.
After playing these games, all i could do was:

These games suck. Hard. The industry has to do better.
What about you fellow Escapists? Any remakes that just make you feel for the industry?

Come on is there even a contest?
Yes, because dino-boy needs to compete with Lara Croft to be king of THAT hill.

I vote Tomb Raider with Yahtzee as my prime testimony.

Do you mean sequel, by chance? If you really mean "remake", then I have to go with Fallout 1, a remake of Wastelands. Not many remakes out there.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Okay, Marth is in it, but you couldn't even bother to remake the remake? You really had to choose the first game of the series, Nintendo? It looks awful, all the characters are HORRIBLY shallow, and they left out most of the game mechanics that staples of Fire Emblem since they've existed in North America. I'm sure it's better than the original game, but Shadow Dragon felt like an utter waste of money. How it managed to sneak by with good reviews is beyond me.
