I would if it had variety. Like, you could choose what kind of setting, guns, and enemies. In fact, this game might be cool if you could choose a plot to go with it. Like, a random plot generator.
Let's say you choose a western setting. The plot-generator might give you there's a bank robbery that you stop and when you do, it turns out that it was all a diversion so that sheriff wouldn't know that all his prisoners were being turned loose. They prisoners decided to unleash anarchy on the town and it's up to you to stop them.
Now, that could variate on several different points. It would be a short story, yes, but you could do it over and over again with various differences. And since I said you could choose setting, imagine that same plot in a sci-fi or a modern setting. Yeah, this deviates from OP but it's just an additional idea.
