Would it be more fun as a multiplayer?

Hm, I've played a lot of fun massive open world sandbox games this gen, but heres a question, would they have been more fun as multiplayer games, sorta like the one implemented in GTA4?

Just Cause 2 for example? Or how about Red Dead? Or maybe you'd prefer Fallout 3 / New Vegas with multiplyer (though this would take more thought process considering vats wouldn't work well in real time etc).

So yeah, seeing as online has more or less become a must in sectors of the gaming industry, do you think your favourite sandboxes would have been more fun and addictive with a multiplayer option?

Saints Row 2 already has multiplayer. I'm happy. Although, Fallout Online was annouced, So a Fallout MMO wouldn't hurt.

I was going to make a comment on how co-op in Tie Fighter would be GODLY, but then I read the "sandbox" criteria.

Multiplayer support in the original Mercenaries would have been awesome. Jacking enemy tanks and helicopters and calling down air strikes with your buddies? Yes please!

I think multiplayer could make any game better, especially coop.

...If done correctly. It usually isn't.

Doesn't Red Dead Redemption already have a sandbox multiplayer mode?

Anyway, I always thought Crysis in a multiplayer, sandbox environment would be cool. Would play like a first-person Crackdown.

There are too many multiplyer games already. All we need is the Fallout MMO, if they ever settle their legal disputes.

I think all those types of games get massively boring, so I play them in short bursts when I have the mental power to do nothing but mass buttons and watch things go Ka-boom.

Fallout Online would be F***ing fantastic!
Just imagine forming your own gang with friends then running around making other peoples lives hell, then finding a cosey little spot in the wastelands for a hideout! Or be the lone hunter that waits for passing groups and taking them out one head a time.
Try starting your own Brotherhood of Steel and play the good guys in some fancy abandoned facility, collecting all the good shit and armour!

A 'keep what you kill' MMO where survival and skill means more than what level you are. It has the opportunity to be realistic and rewarding!
Oh I would definatly go for something like that!

I think I would loose appreciation for the whole 'wasteland' theme if there were thousands of people just running about idly chatting about thier day, the new Iphone they bought and the next mission to be done.

I'd be like "Wtf? Didn't we all just get bombed? Whats going on here?"

Thousands?? Hell no! That ruins every game!! True too many players would spoil the atmosphere of the wastelands a little, New Vegas blew that theory out of the water a bit though. But then practically every MMO destroys the feel of the the single player game if it had one.. Perhaps servers with limited player caps then.

I'm just speaking out of hope here by the way. I'm not the ideas man atall. =)
