I reckon I'm fairly desensitized myself. Really the only thing I can't take is 'horror' that involves 'eyes'. Not as in eyes 'watching someone', but needles being stuck into them and stuff like that. It won't make me throw up, but it just makes my eyes tear to even think of it.

I can take pretty much everything else, I just don't 'like' it. I can't look at pictures of disembodied limbs and torn open body parts and feel 'nothing' and/or laugh. I won't really protest, throw up or get angry if I'm forced to watch stuff like that, but I'd rather just not if I had the choice.

Yeah, I wouldn't have considered you any older. The fact of the matter is that you are laughing at people who killed themselves or people who were very violently murdered. If that doesn't scream messed up to you, you really need help. I don't see how that is funny in any way whatsoever. You're thirteen, why the hell are you even around those websites? Im almost 18 and that shit is wrong and disgusting.
I'm on those websites because I can be, and laughing at that type of thing is more of a coping mechanism in that I COULD dwell on them and think they were the worst thing in the world and that humanity sucks so badly that we could do that to each other, but i don't... P.S.... Please, don't be self-righteous. It's bad for you.

The stuff on the internet isn't to bad. Try going outside and seeing a man crash a car, flying through the windshield and landing right next to you. If you can look at that and laugh then I think we have a problem.

Fictional stuff, sure, tho I'm still squeamish about eye based violence and torture.

I really don't need to see hospital TV tho.

When I lived at home however, my mother would turn over immediately at the sight of a psycho running around with a chainsaw, because 'that's just sick', yet sit in front of full on 'open chest cavity' surgery TV shows during dinner, and not flinch at people having their faces pushed into deep fat fryers if it was in a drama, not a horror movie.

I think for me, the less likely it is to happen, the better I deal with it.

Being chainsawed in half by a loony, that's just black comedy.

Being chained to a table and slowly tortured by a loony with a 'my first surgery kit', that's the stuff of nightmares.

I should've made it more clear: Are you de-sensitized to the internet? :p

Having willingly gone through both the "Offended" and "Kittens" pages of Encyclopedia Dramatica... yeah, nothing really wigs me out anymore.

Games don't bother me at all. I hit a ceiling in movies though. I don't like to watch torture movies. The senseless torture of innocents is just something that repulses me in every way. I don't know how anyone can watch a movie like Hostel or go on the offended page and not have a negative physical reaction. That is true desensitization.

Yes, definitely. I've been on the internet for about 10 years now, on 4chan for 5 years, and I've seen everything.
All imaginable kinds of pornography (including child pornography), people getting killed in most gruesome ways... Really, you can find anything on the internet if you just look closely enough.

I once went on the Wikipedia offended thing, saw the cat with the lemon hat and then quickly scrolled down to skip it (thought it was a lol cat).

...

I will never go to a site like that EVER again!

O.O

... This is the Escapist community. We hide from the world because of it's discomfort and pain.
I have been sent a lot of disturbing things, I mean BRUTAL masochism/mutilation videos. That and I've seen a corpses, frozen, hanged(suicide), in reality, with post-mortem bowl movements and all.
However, nothing beats our public schools and teenagers.

I think I am desensitized and have been for quite some time by the internet. After surfing so much porn, I find it more difficult and takes longer to masturbate than when I first got the internet.

There is nothing Self-righteous about this. Its just you and the fact you are an unfortunately over-privileged 13 year old kid who is the bread and butter of why kids are looked down upon today. Its the reason for Xbox live screaming twelve year olds stereotype.

And it annoys me.

And you'll go blind.

I guess I am de-sensitized. But comics did most of it. Sigh... I remember a time when seeing someone stabbed through the chest by a sword was the most shocking thing I'd ever seen... I miss feeling like that.

Only because I've now seen the stuff.

Desensitization is a rather odd topic; if you're exposed to something then of course you're going to be less shocked (even bored) by it the next time.

I don't really react anymore. This kind of... weirds me out. I don't really like being de-sensitized. Makes me question my own humanity.
