If you somehow got a large sum of money, like by winning in the lottery or something similiar, would you donate part of the money to charity? A lot of people say that they would, but I know that I would not, at least not a substantial amount. What about you, Escapists?

Nope. I'd not say what i'd rather do with it instead, but donations I don't think would be one of those possibilities. Too many other things I need to take care of (not vanity).

It depends on how much I won. More than 2 million: Yes. Less than 2 million: No. I am a cheap bastard.

If I had a steady source of vast riches (ie. CEO of Microsoft) then yes, of course I would.

Were I to win the lottery, I would probably work to invest the money so that it grew. Then switch to philanthropy once you get the cash flow workin' for you.

This is essentialy what I would do.

Can't really be that helpful by simply donating a large sum at once, sure it helps, but it's better to donate a constant supply of cash, no matter how big it is...

Bah, did I say that right, Eh, It's tfar too late at night to care.

Hmmm, if it were more than about ... $4 million, maybe, or if I got bored of having vast sums of money and just wanted enough to live happily off? Then I might leave the rest to a charity in my will. Otherwise no, bugger off, it's my money, and if they want it they should have bought my lotto ticket before I got the chance. (I may or may not be one of those people that has themself as the top priority, and everything else rated on a by-situation basis).
