Would you ever move into a place you know someone died in?

Would the type of death affect your decision?

What if the house was built on land someone died on?

I can't say I believe in ghosts or superstition, if anything strange happened I'd assume it could be explained by science somehow. However, the thought of it always scared me, and I really wouldn't want to know the sad history of a house I was moving into. I don't think I'd mind so much if it was a peaceful death or if I was living with lots of people.

Sorry if I brought up any paranoia or bad feelings by bringing up a morbid topic. *hugs* It will be okay. Something just went "bang" really loudly like a cupboard door slamming at 2:30am. :( I think it's kind of windy, that must be it. Stuff like that always seems to happen when I've made myself paranoid and hyper-alert by reading ghost stories.

Yes, yes i would. That is if the house would be cheap and fancy or a celebrity died in it. Imagine if i owned the house Elvis died in! I could sell the floor bit by bit at ebay for a fortune!

I personally would prefer a house without history. No deaths, Indian Burial Grounds, mysterious basement altars to nameless horrors, etc.

That being said, my neighbor actually died in his house of massive liver failure and they didn't find his body for two weeks. (He was a bit of a loner.) The fumigated the place and cleaned everything out and a new family moved in a month later.

I never talked about what happened to the previous owner with them...I assume they know.

I probably wouldn't. Though I'm non-religious and mainly a science person, I do believe in ghosts due to a short run-in with my Grandfather's when I was young.

It may have been my imagination yes, but I'm not taking that chance dammit!

I wouldn't mind , I would just clean it rather thoroughly. If the house was built on an ancient Indian burial ground........then I would probably run for my life

Well I'm sure at some point in time, someone has died on the land everyone's house is built on. So yeah, why not? I mean, dead people seem pretty chill when it comes to that sort of thing.

Well assuming someone died in the house I'd move in only if the house is nice and because someone died there the price would kinda drop (if it was murder or suicide), but I wouldn't move in alone, that would be too creepy for me...any weird noise when i would be alone in the house would remind me of a dead guy standing dead in some corner or in a morbid position my mind would come up with since I don't know how he exactly died...So to sum it up alone no, with company yes...
But then again if the death was natural or non-violent I'd be ok with it.

I believe in ghost and such like, and I would. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be haunted unless I tried to do something said ghost didn't like. Even then...

The house I live in was put on the market as the owner died. Not sure if she died in the house, don't care.
We kept the furniture that was left there - I'm not superstitious, so I don't really care if the last owner is still alive or not.

(Besides, if ghosts are to exist, knowing me, they'd prolly willingly bugger off)

Topic Question: Yes.

1) No.

2) Doesn't change anything.

Odds are something, sometime, somehow died on the ground right where you're sitting and where you sleep, and where you shit, and where you eat. Death is greatest adventure of life, and not to be feared.

Just saw this question. In most cases, it wouldn't. Only time it'd affect me is if the murder was because the area the house in has.... problems. Generally, tho, I know beforehand if it's a rough area or not.

The manner of death would certainly affect my decision to live there. If the person died from natural causes (heart attack, stroke, etc.) or something like a carbon monoxide or gas leak (provided that the problems are fixed) I'd be willing to live there.
But if it were a murder, suicide or justified killing (self-defense against an intruder) I probably wouldn't want to live there.

I grew up in a house that someone had died in. The guy who lived there before my parent's bought it drank too much, his kidneys failed, and he died in the bathroom that was right next to my room.

There were nights as a kid where, yeah, that was kind of creepy. But in the end, was it a big deal? Nope. So yeah, I'd probably be willing to move into a place where someone died.
