Would you give up your name?

I'm male and I'd happily give up my name. It's not bad (Lines) but I much more love the idea of unity having the same name gives. My children would grow up loving their name, which I think it's a little messier and less like 'your name' if your parents differ

From reading the first page alone, I'm quite sure I'm in the vast minority here, but I would want her to take my name. I can't say whether or not it would be a relationship-breaker if it came to such but it would be upsetting if she didn't take my name. My hope is that anyone I fall for is likely to be a woman for whom it wouldn't be an issue. Any kids would take my name as well.

Hell no. And I absolutely expect my future wife to take my last name. Call me Old-Fashioned, but I like old-fashioned. To me, thats the way the whole thing is supposed to work.

I suppose I'd be okay with her getting a hyphenated name ( Maiden-Mine).

Now my question for those of you who are in a marriage with two different last names, or plan to be: What last name do the kids get?

I also believe that coming together under one family name is part of what makes you a family, just as much as any piece of paper the government hands you.
