I think most people would go down fighting. It's amazing what we're capable of when our lives depend on it.

Hell no. I lack the physical or mental fortitude to survive against zombies. I also have no weapons. I do know where I would hide out though.

If they were the slow zombies, I own a shotgun, a civilian M4 Carbine, plus a few pistols, and a Japanese shortsword. I would pwn so much undead.

But as the OP stated, they're 28 Days Later "zombies". I would be dead wihin the first few minutes of the attack.

edit: This has nothing to do with my avatar being Albert Wesker.

I can think of a few places where I could survive a zombie apocalypse, but the tricky part would be getting there. I'd feel pretty confident about survival if I made it to my car.

Bearing in mind that MOST of the people (portrayed in the films) become zombies...that's pretty much an accurate representation of what would really happen. To survive, you'd have to be god damn lucky, or extremely fit, athletic, smart and devious.

I'd try to stay alive for as long as possible, as anyone would, but I couldn't kill a member of my family who got infected, so they'd turn and undoubtedly infect me too. There are very few military bases around here which MIGHT offer protection (provided that the soldiers haven't been overrun and infected too) and you'd quickly run out of supplies as everyone else rushes to pharmacies and food stores at the same time, thus attracting a zombie hoard, thus sealing your fate...gah, how depressingly pessimistic.

Awesome thread though! Really gets you thinking about your own capabilities rather than, "I'd fill them zombie ass ho's full o' lead."

I think I would likely survive. It's always a bit of a crap shoot, of course: early on, if you happen to be asleep, if the panic hasn't caught on, if one of the first zombies happen to be behind you...welcome to life as a zombie. And no matter what you do, theres always runs of bad luck, and possible impossible situations. But if things are obviously going to shit and Im not already dead, I would be in okay shape. I know how to use a firearm, weapons, and I keep my head in a dangerous situation. I am usually around people, but importantly, those people are healthy, mid-20's guys in good shape, with gun knowledge, common sense, working knowledge of survival skills, some fighting skill, and know where to go to quickly find an isolated, well fortified location with plenty of food, water sources, and ammunition. I also live in a fairly small town. So overall...yeah, I think that I have far better chances then most.

I see zombies on levels.
1. Perfect Zombies,Made from humans, uncorrupted other than the virus, are stronger and faster.

2. Rotting Zombie, Made from older zombies, recently dead, slowing from the rotting process, somewhat weaker, and are worth 2 unarmed humans.

3. Dead Zmbie, which are made from long dead, lost of most senses and fast to starve, slow, and break like a dead for 10 years tree.

4. Rubble Zombies, deprived of all senses, have little way to spread infection, and unless smashed over the head with a vase, won't even be aware of you.

Best way to survive:
Have a good team
Best things about having a team:
Added firepower
Helps you keep your sanity (being alone really messes with your mind)
"I've got your back"
Larger workforce (fortifying, breaking+entering, raiding, ect.)

Me and my group of friends might survive the beginning... but I don't know about later.

I can say that I would probably survive for a while. I do have relatives out in the country and I could always hold out there. Though chances are I'd probably be turned into a manburger on one of the supply runs into town. That, or I could rely on one of my friends to lock me up in the shed, coming in every once in a while to play games. I wouldn't mind that.

I could handle fortified isolation well (unless they cut down electricity, those fiends) but on the combat side I think I'd get owned in a drop of the hat so I would make a poor survivalist.

I have a reputation amongst my friends as the guy who would be most mentally prepared for a zombie attack, but never once have I ever considered that I would survive it. I've always considered my role to be the guy that allows others to escape by willingly sacrificing myself to stall the swarm.

Well my country doesn't really have alotta guns, maybe a few ten thousands (if you dont count the incredibly small army) and my sanity would break the moment i heard the word zombie. Besides I'm not that athletic, I'm pretty strong but wont last for more then a few minutes running.
So suicide it is then

Pffft, 28 days? No sweat. I'd like to remind you that where I live people have a gun-rack for their gun-racks, in America!

I have 2 air rifles, a garage full of blunt objects, and a fair bit of country to hide in, but no I doubt I will acheive anything, espeically against the fast kind.
The slow kind I might be able to pick them off if only a few came to my door, but no chance horde wise.

I have a gun and a katana in my house and I can shoot pretty well. So I would survive a little while anyway.

EDIT: Oh, RUNNER "zombies"? Those don't count and are not real zombies. Besides 28 days later sucked, so why do people always use those infected?

Depends on the whole "loved ones" business really - with my boyfried and a couple of friends, I dare say yes, given that we're as paramilitair as geeks get - all alone, with noone but myself, I'd probably go for the suicide road, if only to escape a worse fate.
