Would you still enjoy Christmas if we didn't have presents?

Eh, sure. I don't really care much about the gifts anymore. I have pretty much everything I want, aside from new games and related stuff. Which I'd rather get on my own than pester my family for.

So yeah, I never really ask for anything at christmas anymore. My favorite gift for the last 2 years was the gigantic bag of popcorn that my grandparents would get me.

I still get time off, I get to have a laugh with my family and get thoroughly drunk while binging on food, so yeah there's still things to enjoy. So unless your family happen to drive you up the wall, I don't see why you wouldn't get some enjoyment out of Christmas.
This was going to be my answer... only time of year our extended family comes together, chill, eat and drink together. I often try to play down the whole presents thing by not asking for much, maybe just a book, and try to let everyone enjoy the time. I hate people who focus too much on what they arent/are getting, I just find it... jarring to my personal ethos of what is most important about christmas

As a Christian, I would be happy for the chance to just remind evryone of the true meanning of Christmas, to celebrate the birth of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. While I'm fully aware that He was likely not born on that day, it is still the time set aside in the year to celebrate it. While I can understand why people, and the selfish part of me would miss presents, I still think people could do with the reminder.

Wouldn't change anything for me I hate Christmas and think its the gayest season of them all. It's always getting presents I don't want, having a Christmas meal I don't want and seeing relatives and people I don't give a shit about.

Without presents, the Christmas would basically just become Thanksgiving, but where the talk of how we should all feel guilty because our ancestors fucked over the natives is replaced by incessant holiday music.

I would still enjoy Christmas and actually I think that I would enjoy the holiday season a lot more. This would mean no crazy shoppers or the mall packed to the brim and everyone would be much more relaxed. Parents wouldn't stress about not having enough money to keep the illusion of Santa alive for their children and therefore live beyond their means. Also now that I'm older I would just be able to buy the things I wanted in November instead of giving my parents the heads up that I want it. Essentially cutting out the middle man and making my life much more efficient.Plus I would still get the vacation and I wouldn't have to stress over what to get the people in my life. I feel as though it would be a much more enjoyable time, but thats just me.

I don't know. Some people are insane and they actually look forward to a guaranteed family get-together once a year. As it stands, I don't get presents and I dislike spending time with my family, so I hate Christmas. There's also a kind of atmosphere that descends around Christmas. It's stifling and horrible and it reeks like soiled undergarments. I believe they call it "good cheer".

Yes. To me, Christmas is more about the family hanging out together, having a big breakfast, a nice long slow quiet day away from the cares of the world? the presents are just a really nice bonus.

Though it now strikes me that I really have matured over the past few years. It used to be that I'd be planning out my Christmas list two or three months in advance, but now it's four weeks to go and I have no idea what I want nor do I feel the urge to figure it out. I'm sure it'll drive my slightly OCD mother nuts when she realizes that.

Well I hate Christmas movies and songs, I hate the massive crowds of people clogging up the city during the Christmas shopping period. I hate the fact that people feel like they have to buy each other presents. For the last 2 years my family has had a no present policy for Christmas and its great so far.

Christmas for me is mostly the one day every year I'm guaranteed to get a day off and the only day its acceptable to be drunk before midday. The immedient family gets together and we eat, drink, tell storys listen to music and generally have a great time. I dont see the need for presents.

I'm sorry, I just hate Christmas so damn much...I hate Christmas movies and songs playing everywhere with no escape, I hate the massive crowds of people clogging up the city during the Christmas shopping period. I hate the fact that people feel like they have to buy each other presents just because it's Christmas. I hate the gaudy decorations everywhere (except for the lights, those are nice), I hate getting this Holiday shoved down my throat (I was raised Muslim), AND I hate the superficial morals related to the "Christmas spirit". Yes, being to good to each other is great and its great that good things are done because of the "Christmas spirit", but what stops people from being good and generous for the rest of the year?

I just enjoy the break from school and work.

Well I was leaving the mall the other day, and it's the holidays, (kinda) so they put up all the Christmas decor and sales and all that, and my sister brought up that she thinks Christmas is over rated. She brought up how people will only care about getting presents, and greed and all that shit. That was kinda interesting to me. Would you still enjoy Christmas if their were no gifts? Would you still enjoy the entire later part of December?

Edit: Yes you still get out of school. A regular Christmas day; just without presents.

Video related, somehow....
Yes, its always been more about the occasion rather than the actual gifts for me. My family could never really afford much in the way of gifts. Not complaining mind you, just explaining that the gift part was never much to do with the holidays for me to begin with. As an adult we still get together but neglect on the explicit gift giving for the most part.

I love the time off and just the general festive mood of the season. Best time of the year for those reasons alone. This is also coming from an ignostic whose family is Catholic for the record.

Well that would be interesting because with out presents that means there is no commercialism bullshit, that makes Christmas seem so fake
But then a piece of it would be lost, it wouldn't feel the same and I think the happiness of the season would be lost. I mean wishing each other marry Christmas is one thing, getting presents is quite another

My favorite part is buying other people their presents, so no, it would not be as enjoyable for me.

Your sister is right,
I don't expect presents and have tried for years now to get people to give up the whole present giving thing. Like my hubby and I say, we'd rather get together with family and friends, have some good food and plenty of good wine and enjoy the fact that we can be with the ones that we love.

Of course. I just like seeing my family more than anything. And as cliche as it might sound since presents still are a part of it, I prefer seeing how people react to what I get them rather than what I get myself.
