Would you still play a game if the main character was gay?

If its not shoe horned in and he/she isnt an obviously offensive stereotype then im in. Dough i do prefer games where i can choose to be gay or not. Like in mass effect... Well she is an alien so its probably something else all together.

As long as it doesn't show a man to man scene, I would. By all means, if the game is good.

Knowing this industry and others they would make a huge deal out of it in the game and marketing to the point where it's extremely annoying and insulting.

I await the day it's done properly though instead of being in your face about it.

I would, would make the boring PG 13 love scene at least somewhat interesting. (Again thank you Bio-ware for throwing Anders at me XD)

[small]No I'm not gay, but if game Devs are going to crowbar in a sex scene just because the media doesn't pay attention as much as they used, to they could at least make it less creepy and more interesting. (I'm looking at you AC2) [/small]

As bad as this might sound I'm going to be completely honest. If theyre sexual preference is truly important to the gameplay/story than I likely would not play. 2 reasons, if theyre sexual preference is the gimmick to buying the game than its likely a bad game with likely bad writing and would not be enjoyable, the other would honestly be self-consciousness I live at a university and would probably get judged hardcore for it. Now if the game was a compelling story driven game with great gameplay and a main character who happened to be homosexual and would likely have a romance or two along the way than yes I probably would play it. So I guess it really just comes down to the quality of the game not the sexual preference of the main character.

Is the game good?

If no, no. If yes umm... duuuuurrrrrrr yes.
How in the hell is the sexuality of the main character even relevant to my enjoyment of the game?

That said, I wouldn't play a dating sim if the main character was a homosexual male, for obvious reasons.

Would I still play a game if the main character was a homosexual? Hell yeah I would!

Sexuality doesn't determine whether I'll play a game or not.

Sorry if that sounds Hetronormative, but by the same logic i also don't play sports games, because i have no interest in televised sports.
I think you're missing the point here. The fact that the main character is gay doesn't mean that the game will revolve around engaging in "gay activities"
In other words, the game doesn't have to be about being gay for the main character to be gay; in the same way that other games games with heterosexual main characters aren't necessarily about being heterosexual or engaging in "straight activities".

It'd have to be a damn good game. I like to project myself into the game, and it wouldn't be as easy if he was homosexual - presumably they'd make the effort of underlining the point as well. I think a gay supporting character adds depth, though.

I couldn't care less about the sexual orientation of the main character.

Makes zero difference to me.
