This is an excellent question that needs to be asked.jackpipsam said:why does it matter if someone is gay?
Gordon Freeman, from the Half-Life series, could be gay. He could be straight. He could be a female to male transgendered person. We don't know! And, frankly, it doesn't matter. At all. Gordon's sexuality isn't brought into the light, because it hold no bearing on the game itself. If valve came out and said 'Gordon is gay', that wouldn't change the game, only people's perception of the game.
Game characters are, unless otherwise stated, asexual.
Or, at the very least, they are whatever the current player thinks they are.
A game that has a gay protagonist better have a really good reason for bringing up that they are gay.
It has to mean something, otherwise it means nothing.
