Yeah, I think no. I don't think that a perfect life would be boring, but that whole "not knowing where you're going oh and btw it's permanent lol" aspect is pretty disconcerting. I'd rather have a choice to totally screw up royally. But I deeply fear change, so.

Hmm on one hand I'm thinking that it'd be selfish to my friends and family in real life, since I'd be pretty much locked away for the rest of my life, but on the other hand my real life is pretty boring and having a perfect life isn't an opportunity that I'd want to miss out on.
For now I'm gonna say I'd go with a perfect life but when/if my real life picks maybe I'd change my mind

this is like the book "Pendragon: the reality bug" where almost everyone on the planet is in a virtual reality tube and the world goes to hell cause nobody cares about maintaining it and just want to be in their virtual perfect reality.

Reminds me of the virtual reality game Better Than Life from Red Dwarf, which was supposed to give you what you wanted most. The problem was that one of the characters was so full of self-loathing that his sub-conscious basically set out to destroy him as part of his 'true desire'.
Now I question would you also be aging in this machine, so when you die you die in both real world and fake world, or does this machine baiscally run and when you die in the fake world its only been a small amount of time in the real world, either way I would totally use this machine. No questions asked.
