If you get one just beware that we're all actually laughing at you, the perception that people are like omg you're awesum is fabricated.

*You paid 20 euros in an effort to show off to people you don't know and will never communicate with in a meaningful way*

This is "business. Serious business"... and madness... and bullshit... and a perfect example for capitalism letting people going nuts. I admit Blizzard is an important contributor to the industry since they made Orcs & Humans (good times, good times), but on the other hand, looking on what they became, it is realy annoying to see how Blizz pile up their money on the backs of "humble" gamers, shitting on them at the same time: "no your StarcraftII & DiabloIII can't haz LAN support and yes we still charge the full amount for EVERY expansion", only to mention their smallest issues.
Guh, i'm a relative calm person but everytime i hear something new from Blizzard it lets me rage again.

It looks cool, but no...just no. The only micro-transaction I'd ever pay for if I went back to WoW is a race change or realm transfer.

Gotta love my troll druid :p

Real money for digital items, Blizzard devs are evil geniuses.

Ah well, cue people bitching on the WoW forms, even though this is an optional item, and threating to stop playing. People will still pay for it, and Blizz will be crying all the way to the bank.

EDIT: Hell, I'd pay $25 or more if I could add wings to my Mammoth. They should add that.
One of the facebook comments for this article complained about how it was symmetrical.

Seriously.

So now we know who to make fun of?

I'm so sick of the tangled mess of proto-drakes crowding up the main squares of capital cities though - you can't even see the things you're trying to interact with. When are people going to get some common sense and decency and just get OFF the damn things before entering a crowded social area?

I like this mount, it's a lot better looking than the spectral steed. I only wish I had 25$ of disposable income.

Just got this mount, looks great and hell I have disposable income. Might as well get something cool looking for a game I enjoy.

Also I don't get why anyone would use so much time just to get a mount.. There are sooo many things i'd rather spend my time on.

So, if it takes you some 57 hours to make a Mars bar yourself, that makes it okay to price a Mars bar at some 500$?
Well, my comment was operating under the assumption that someone actually wants a nice looking mount. If it's as desirable as a Mars bar to you then of course it's a rip-off. However, most WoW players seem to like cool mounts, so for those people the $25 mount might actually be a better deal than the other more grindy options in game.

A mars bar can be very desirable. My point was that just because working for something yourself would be less cost effective than what the product is sold for, doesn't mean that the product's sale price is okay.

The fact is, their animators do a LOT more work for each and every single patch. That work is funded by the 15$ subscription that's divided over a LOT more stuff. So you can't look me in the eyes and say it's ok to charge people that much money for getting an animator to make a single model. Yes, not everyone's gonna buy it, but that still doesn't justify the fact, they're still raking in way too much money for way little work.

There's also the point of microtransactions having no place in a subscription based game (outside the areas where they're needed as gateways to prevent against too frequent (ab)use like with server/name change).

As long as it's a vanity item I think they can charge whatever they want, even if they already charge subscription fees. After all, prices aren't simply set by supply (IE how much it costs to employ the animator), but by demand as well. You can't demonize a company for making money, especially when the item in question doesn't really affect gameplay.

The common gripe about all those things, including character transfers and whatnot is actually the fact that there already is 15$ / month subscription to the game and an expac every 1.5-2 years for full game price to fund the Blizzard's Money Swimming Pool.

Yes, yes, those things take development resource i know, i know, but then maybe really Blizz should focus on making the content then. Cataclysm already managed to annoy many of fans with delays on Firelands, lack of Path of the Titans and lowering the difficulty, slapping another paid mount is really not the best thing Blizz could do at the moment... but eh, they have the benefit of large player base that includes enough people that will buy it to save them time on getting the normal mount.
What this person said, That and pvp is terrible and the normal modes are easy and the "heroic" modes aren't even that hard there just so fucking rng you never know what might happen, That and firelands looks to be hasteily thrown together just like the Za/Zg "new dungeons" So it looks like wows going down the shitter because of trying to put out content faster and faster and it just keeps getting worse and worse. Sorry i went on a tirade on your post

Well, it's not a sparkle-pony, so it has that. But in some of those shots, it looks like a winged elephant. Not something I'd spring half a Grant on.

Also, Blizz... where the hell is my rideable Sporebat? Epic opportunity wasted and never returned to.
nether rays aren't good enough for you? they are about 99.9% identical you know
