The maelstrom has nothing to do with the emerald dream.

It was created when sageras was buried in the well of eternity during the war of the ancients. However, his spirit escaped and was put inside of medivh, the last guardian of tirisfal, who under sargeras's rule led the orcs into azeroth. he was later killed by his good friend danath trollbane but for some reason was the mysterious prophet in WC3.

Correction, he was killed by Khadgar, his apprentice. He returned as the prophet in WC3 to redeem himself for nearly ending the world.

Speculation about WoW Races with no solid evidence or InFamous vs Prototype threads.
I definitely hate speculation about WoW races more. Waaaaaay more.

Also I'm not even sure there is anything in the Maelstrom. I mean sure, that's where the Well of Eternity once was but it was destroyed. The only thing down there would be The Old Gods, right? And what would be the point of loosing those whackjobs?
Queen Azshara and her naga are meant to be at the bottom of the Maelstrom. They'll have some "NAGA INVASION!" similar to the Scourge one before the actual expansion hits and use that as justification for sending hundreds of troops into what is essentially a big fuckoff whirlpool with a nice little tornado/hurricane storm on top.

but alas he accepts the Death Knights back, the Worgen might not be too much of a stretch.
I'd like to see you invade Icecrown without us.

Alliance gets Worgen? shit... ah well, at least the Horde will have something equivalent to a Gnome racewise... As for the next expansion being the Maelstrom, that's almost too logical for it to not be true... I'm also thinking the next Hero Class will be the Warden.
as much as i want to agree with you about the warden hero class, i would never remain faithful because Maiev Shadowsong is the reason i hate WC: Frozen Throne. I hate her. hate hate hate hate HATE her. she is an annoying ***** who always ruins EVERYTHING becuz of illidan. personally, i the druids are already OP, so no hero class for them :p

but i DO think that a hero class should be archmage. i mean think about it: you can train in dalaran, fuck around with the universe, fuck around with your friends, and just be a prick but nobody will blame you because you an ARCHMAGE :D

well i dont personally think therell be an archanything hero class and i'm not to sold on a warden either. i can see a goblin faction comming to the horde maybe but the worgen is a bit of a stretch.

Face it guys, until we get to play as the Ethereal (the best race in the Warcraft lore), the game is only a shell of what it could be.

With logic like that, I wonder why you haven't been hired as a Blizzard developer.

Could be, but they would've been more appropriate for WotLK since, y'know, Dalaran is in Northrend. And they'd probably be called 'wizard'. I sure hope so, that sounds much better than archmage, I'd say.

And about those masks, during brewfest some goblins are wearing dwarf masks. So it wouldn't necessarily mean they're for hallow's eve.

This should probably be in the gaming forum.

Anyways, I haven't played WoW for quite a while. Last I heard people were talking about The Emerald Dream, or something about Azshara. But they were talking about goblins and I thought that was pretty cool. Maybe a neutral race of some sort.

If we're going by zone location, Demonhunters are more likely than Wizards. Past Performance is always an indicator of Future Results. [http://wcradio.com/shows/5-Octale-and-Hordak-vs-The-World]

Death Knights started 25 levels below the cap for their expansion, at 55. Following that train, if the level cap is boosted again we'll see the character start at 65; right in the middle of the Burning Crusade, escaping their starting area at 68, just in time to hop on the boat to Northrend and take part in the Nexus War and the fight against the Scourge.

Not saying that I'd like Demon Hunters (they'll attract more smacktards than the Death Knights do. And I know, I'm a Death Knight myself. Yay for being stereotyped due to other people's incapabilities of stringing a coherent sentence together.) however with the evidence provided for the first Hero Class, Demon Hunters are in a stronger position of power to be played than Wizards -or indeed Archdruids- are.

BTW, just to diffuse the whole Goblin/Worgen thing. MMO-champion.com just posted some new PTR information. New Halloween masks have been posted for the following: Goblins, Worgen, Murlocs, Vrykul, Ogres, and Naga. So any "proof" that Worgen and Goblins were the new races is out the window now.

Here's the post:

There's an entire continent worth of mass to base an expansion on, and it's right under the Maelstrom.

The most powerful Night Elf city before the original Well of Eternity was destroyed is still there, and is still under the command of it's Queen Azshara. Queen Azshara was the reason why the Burning Legion was interested in Azeroth to begin with, and at the end of the War of the Ancients that drove the Legion back, her city, Zin-Azshari (the glory of Azshsara) was sunk, along with it's queen. She's still under there, amassing a large army to overtake the surface world.

There are also several surface cities on the Maelstrom: Mak'aru (city of makrura), Nazjatar (naga city), The Rift (where the remains of the Well are), and several other landmasses.

Think about it, there's tons of material here for an expansion's worth of stuff, and aren't most of the beaches infested with Naga, Murlocs and other weird sea creatures? Who's to say they won't rise up one day and attempt a full-scale invasion of Azeroth?
