Try EVE Online. When you're finished with EVE's 21 day trial, completely uninstall the WoW client and redownload and reinstall it from the site. Then try WoW. Give your subscription money to whichever game you enjoy more.
Dude, I like you, but seriously please quit advertising... usually that turns people off from the game you're suggesting, and plus that's not what he asked. He asked for help with WoW.

To actually have some input, definitely try WoWRepair.exe first. If that doesn't work, contact Blizzard's help line and do what they say.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the game!

I'd recommend the CDs if you're not using them, I've had problems with their digital downloads myself. Pending that, try running WoWRepair.exe or reinstall everything after manually deleting all the WoW files.

Well i will go on a limb here and say it is possible it could be your firewall. I know some firewalls dont like WoW to much and stop the patching system thinking it is all a virus, i.e AVG, so try doing some thing with that.

Um...what? I was simply saying people should try EVE before WoW in case they get addicted to WoW when they try it. It's better to know the alternatives before getting sucked in. Wouldn't you agree?

Advertising is advertising. I for one will never try EVE because of you. Yes, at one point it intrigued me, now, due to your incessant raving about it, I won't ever touch the damned thing.

Stop bashing WoW. If you don't like it, stay away. You're just as bad as Pyronox.

I'd try finding an up to date online client of the game. I've had this issue while re-installing some older mmo's from the original disks. Time and little errors aside it's way easier to find the newest version from the official website then deal with the basic install and the MASSIVE amounts of updates and expansions.

Oh, come on, he's not even close to that bad. He isn't even saying WoW is a bad game. I do see his point, it's just that whenever I've seen a "I'm trying WoW" he says "try EVE too". That's the only issue I have, as it gets a bit annoying. Pyronox spouts hate speaches... completely different, and much worse.

EDIT: Though I will say, and always say, WoW itself isn't addictive. It's habit forming, and people who get "addicted" to it have an addictive nature and could get addicted to stamp collecting if they enjoyed it. Everyone I know that plays WoW, save one person, isn't addicted, and the one admits to having an addictive personality.

I'm not bashing WoW anymore. I'm just saying that EVE and WoW are very different and WoW is extremely addictive. Someone should try both before settling on a decision. I've stopped stupidly and violently bashing WoW. I just want people to know their alternatives before getting addicted to WoW.
