So I've decided to give WOW a try and I'm trying to download the starter edition. Each time that I open it however, it says that the installer could not open. I have a Mac. Could anyone offer some advice to help me get this working. Please don't simply say don't play it on Mac, I've heard that already. Thanks.

- Are you sure you downloaded the mac version?
- Is your firewall blocking it?
- Have you tried downloading a torrent from another source?
- Stupid one, but are you sure the standard application is set correctly for whatever kind of file it is?

I don't own a mac, but you might want to start here, and maybe try the Blizzard customer support if it still won't work.

One last word of well-meant advice though.

Don't play it on a Mac. Really. They were right.

Well I'm glad we got that out of the way first off. Use Google to help find a solution and yes, your firewall may be blaocking the ports that WoW uses though I don't actaully know which one becasue I don't play WoW on a Mac or at all in fact.

You should take out a second mortgage and buy some of that good ol' Apple-certified software that they only sell in their designated Apple stores, if you happen to live in a city important enough to have one. If not, you're screwed.

I think it's cute when people try to play real games on Macs.

Well thanks for all of your "help" but I got it figured out. Turns out it was really simple. I just needed to take the installer and drag it into my applications folder. Why it didn't got there automatically, I don't know.

Because you're on a Mac?
