I used to play Team Fortress 2, not much but enough to know what the game was about and how to play well with each class, I even got quite good with the Spy, and there was a time when I stopped, I knew about the updates and that there was crafting in it, but I though that it would still be the old TF2 again. Yesterday I played it... Wow!

Just from the menu I noticed changes, and big ones, Valve games always had the same style of menu, although they arent all that special I was suprised to see that they complitely ignored their default layout. I like this new menu btw.

Another thing that I noticed and was blown away. "Offline PRACTISE". WTF, since when did TF2 had bots? And how did they managed that? I know that they only work in 4 maps and from a game that I played they cant use the spy, but still.

They seemed to play well, every class did their thing, it was cool. I still only tried it once so there may be problems that I still dont know of.

I bet that more stuff changed but hell, I never saw a game change that much, Valve is really supporting the game.

The thing i hate about the bots, is they pritty good and it's embarrassing to be donimated by them. I think TF2 is the most updated game of all time, most arn't just patchs either.

All of those changes are very recent. I think they're trying to make TF2 and L4D feel very different from Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike, and to do that they're changing the interfaces around a bit.

The last time I played was just before they brought in all the crafting - I might have to go back and play more.

But they're changing CS:S to be more like TF2 with Achis, stats and killframes on the same (version of) engine.

The offline practice and new GUI were released at the same time as the mac release... You can make your own assumptions from that.... (Now every time I see earphones they die next)

The bots have been around for a while but i have never actually played with them. Tho I heard that when the bots where first released they were really crap but they apparently have fixed that mostly.

The bots are actually very competent now. They play prett effectively as all the classes and it's nice. Especially in the small hours on maps like hydro which suck with < 16 people.

The new GUI is great, if a little system-shocking.

The new weapons(save for the Direct Hit) are pretty well balanced, and add new dimensions to the game.

I wish I would've bought it on PC. I have Orange Box on the Xbox 360 and the extra stuff never came out. Also, one update caused some huge bug, making it only possible to play as sniper in the multiplayer. It was there over a month so I stopped bothering to check it. I know it's probably Microsoft's fault but I'm really dissappointed.

Yes, God forbid people can train with bots so they don't hit Ubercharge as soon as it hits 100%.

Thats pretty old news I reckon. By this exact time I am guessing over 40 have been given. I was playing this afternoon and 3-4 were given out. I hate the global announcement because it just makes the other tonne of players feel sad :(

Craft away people!

There's crafting in TF2? How in heaven's name does that work?

Well, I think:

You collect stuff in battles, and you then use the various items to create different weapons. And they also have weapons designed by the community that they then put into the full game.

If you've played counterstrike source at some point in the past, you should check that out... A friend and I popped on there before I sent him TF2 and Holy crap... It has achievements now and the layout totally blew my mind! They've also changed some minor things in game as well... Nothing that affects gameplay mind you, just simple things like the scoreboard if I remember correctly.

As for TF2... I just got it recently so I haven't actually seen what the older version of everything looks like. Was there always a tutorial, or was that something they have added as well? I was kind of thrown off as to why they only had a tutorial for the soldier. Perhaps the other classes are still in the works.

I'm not sure how recent this patch is, but I heard that in older versions of the game, engineers could only upgrade turrets and spies could knife while cloaked. Now Engies can upgrade all their buildings and the spy got nerfed so that you can only knife when uncloaked.

Well, you could only upgrade the turret, dont know about the spy stuff. But yeah, the game changed a lot, oh, and see videos from the Xbox version to know how the old version was, they never updated the 360 version
