I'm a little disappointed at the lack of mention regarding Horde Coinage.
Sure I know they've been made, but the lack of mention makes me sad.

Also, poor design choice for the Horde Coins, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks it's a bit odd that a faction that builds the majority of their structures either from wood, the skin of dead animals or into the very ruins of destroyed cities...

Why would they have coinage that looked THAT pristine? Not to mention perfectly round.
It just doesn't seem like good design to me.

Although that's not forgetting the fact that since the undead, members of the horde; used to be humans. It'd make sense if they'd have some human currency knocking about.

Not to mention the fact most money is collected from NPCs of all races...
So the separate factions having different money makes no sense.

(Yeah I know it's just for the sake of collectibles, but still, I'd like some genuineness with the collectible money I'd be buying.)

Really Blizzard is that how you want to go about looking for more cash to boost the slaes figures?.

First you release WoW and pay to play a month crap that i myself once fell for and still retained repetitive gameplay, secondly you release the expansions at what would usually cost a player a console game, and thirdly you decide since Cataclysm is near its release you expect more players to rush in a pay and then decide to top it off with coins which look nothing like the ones i game and claim they are and slap on a stupid price.

I'm expecting only a few people who play WoW not to fall for this gimmick because its too damn obvious to go for shiny coins whic do not represent the currency in WOW besides the actual colour, and despite that the coin sizes in the game are all the same.
People buy various forms of collectible items for practically anything all the time. They don't expect everyone to buy them, but I can almost guarantee you there's a decent chunk of WoW players who fall under the group of people who like collectibles and memorabilia type items.

Sometimes Blizzard does things that doesn't really boost cash values all that much, but still allows them to get themselves out there more. For example, Collector's Edition releases of video games, action figures, manga and comic books, and so on and so forth. These things are fairly common for ANY business that has a product like Blizzard's.

Hahaha, more things to buy for WoW Fanatics, another 2-4 million for Blizzard? :D

At least make them chocolate. ;O
I doubt that many people will end up buying them, regardless of my statements above. A big chunk doesn't necessarily mean they'll sell hundreds of thousands of these. Thousands? Quite likely. Tens of thousands? Possibly. Any more than that? I doubt it.

Mmmm... chocolate.

Chocolate would have actually been a sensible idea given that the price for that hocolate shouldn't be that high but the coin idea is just a silly way of saying " i need a crap load ofmoney because like i need a lot!".

Items like Frostmourne and other swords or even shields can make good collectables but a coin or two priced like that is really not needed it goes beyond a decnt price for value its a small coin probably nod bade from a pure stable metal and whats worse is as someone mentioned above the coins are very pristine and perfectly rounded, its like they didn't even try for the coin to look like proper memorabilia.

Another usual theme with collectibles is the fact that they are usually overpriced, or most people who see them consider them to be such, usually because they are not that interested in them in the first place.

I'm not saying you're wrong about the price, just that these things are more common than you'd think.

HA! HAHAHAHAH! HA! SOMETHING FOR US!

... I'm sorry, my whole guild is a little bitter about Cataclysm seeming to favor the Horde. Yeah, not worth it, but interesting.

The coins are funny, but what I found funnier was the link to the woman offering sex for 5000 gold. That's some funny stuff.
