What works for me is to write something that is not serious and, most likely, for my eyes only. Something like a funny poem, haiku, or writing from a stream of consciousness perspective works very well for me. It gets me to write and the more I write the more ideas I can generate through time. Also, going out to a bar and observing and talking to people is a great way to get ideas. When hanging out outside where people are smoking you can really hear some interesting and truly bizarre stories.

However, I feel as if most of the problems with writing have a lot to do with the Nirvana Fallacy. Once you are able to beat that you will not have any problems.

P.S. If you find a way to beat it let me know.

P.P.S. That sound a lot creepier than it was intended.
