Writing for video games?

I love video games, and as great as it would be to be a game designer I'm just not the leader type.
But what's always excited me the most about video games isn't game play or graphics, but good writing. I just love being mind-blown at a story as it progresses or when the writing/dialogue just sucks you in and creates intense moments. I've especially loved BioShock, and pretty much any game by BioWare.
Is there really a place in the video game industry for people who just want to WRITE? I don't mean journalism (but I'll do that if that's what it takes), I mean creating text/dialogue/story in a game.
Any advice on what I should, colleges I should look at, etc?

Hey a 2 second google search: http://www.gamecareerguide.com/features/367/ask_the_experts_becoming_a_game_.php

Personally I'd say hook up with someone who wants to make games/mods and combine their work with your writing. Maybe try tabletop RPGs? (I've never played one though but from what I've heard creative writing could come in handy?). Take creative writing courses. Make short stories, make a blog. Put your short stories on your blog.

The important thing is that you do something you can say "I did this and so I have experience at creative writing for games". Doesn't really matter what because you can swing pretty much anything to show you have experience and passion for something.
