Actors/actresses that just don't work.

I have serious trouble trying to remember anything about Christian Bale in The Dark Knight. I don't know what it is, but my friends and I can discuss Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckels, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Maggie Gyllenhal, yet for some unfathomable reason we can never remember Mr Bruce Wayne himself.

Keanu Reeves as Jonathon Parker, oh how this riles me up. It's Bram Stoker's Dracula, please treat it with a little respect, yes I know it has an otherwise great cast, but Reeves looks like he went to the Ben Affleck school of Acting where you learn to be out-acted by the scenery. Oh, and one more thing, if you can't get a British actor to play a British part, then at least get someone who can do the accent. (Yes this also applies to any character of any other nationality.)

So anyone feel that actors were in a part they just should not have been allowed to get in a ten mile radius of?

Michelle Rodriguez. I have yet to see a good movie starring her, and I get the impression that her incapability actually detracts from some of the other actors' reasonably good performance.

Fixed. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Eckhart] Minor point I know, but I loved him so much in Thank You for Smoking (Go watch it. Now.)

Orlando Bloom as William Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Also, Bruce Willis in the recent film 'Surrogates'. What could have been a film based primarily around the debate of what constitutes humanity, rampaging technology and a utopian/dystopian robot future ended up being more about helicopter crashes, car chases and gunfights seemingly just because Bruce Willis was in the film.

Nicholas Cage in probably 75% of his films.
You have to see the remake of the Wicker Man, it is hilarious. "Get off the bike"
and take your stupid mask!

That's the best example of the 25% of his films he was perfect for. also included are Con*Air and the Weatherman.

EDIT:

Where the hell did I get "Eckles" from? Yes he is brilliant in Thank You for Smoking. Damn good film. Not a fan of Katie Holmes though.

Mark Wahlberg in Max Payne. It would have been a terrible film regardless of who they casted...but I could think of plenty of actors who would have been more appropriate.

Tom Cruise in pretty much anything he's ever done?
Seconded. I particularly didn't like him in The Last Samurai.
Tom Cruise is one of those actors that only stays in the limelight because there are millions of women in the world that will pay to see his films because they'd love to jump in bed with him. He isn't even all that for looks anyway.

Hollywood are slipping with their actors. No one acts they just read lines these days.
I'm only 20 but I can still remember when an actor was so powerful that they made the scene and not the scenery. What happened to atmosphere? Thrown away for looks.

No I've not seen it yet but Bill Murry will make me. I love him!!

He's a good actor and can create a scene. Scrooged is one of his best films

Lucy Liu in The Descent. I dunno, it just didn't seem like it worked.

There are others, but for the life of me they don't spring to mind :(

Oh actually, that blond woman in Inside Man. If you've seen it it's:
The really arrogant blond woman that Arthur Case goes to see about getting the stuff out his vault back from the bank robbers, seriously, I have no idea what her job was, and the movie would have perfectly fine without her.

I'd like to say Megan Fox but she's probably perfect for the roles she plays - it's just they are horrible, burnable roles.

So I guess I should really say she should be kept away from filming, photography, and anything that involves me seeing her.
