WTF Xbox

Yesterday my xbox stopped reading disks, if i put a disk in it would wirr then continue giving me the open/close option. So i rang xbox ofcourse and their solution to this was to take my hard drive of,to which i think WTF how could that possibly related but it worked, then they told me to put it back and and it freaking continues working i mean WTF.

Now my question to anyone reading this is how could it possibly related??
has anyone else had anything else similar?

And please dont make this topic into a flame war, and no your not cool to troll for the sake of trolling so just dont do it. thank you.

EDIT:agaisnt what everyone thinks im not pissed of it just confused the hell out me how removing and put the hard drive back on could fix my dvd.

I had the red ring which acted up in a funny way, but not the disk read problem. It scares me to think of anything related to the hard drive going wrong, granted its not the hard drive. Still scary.
