He probably just had his settings down low :p
I hope so. Still though, people care too much about graphics now when most games look great enough.

It sounds like the PS3 demo is the same as the first 360 demo, lag out the ass and bad pop in.

But what's this I hear about no hit marker? The hell? There is a hit marker on the 360 and PC demos I've played.

As far as the graphics argument is concerned, you don't present a very strong argument.

Ultimately, almost all of your complaints can be fixed by playing the PC version, so I don't care.

the demo is running on dx9 and the actual game will run on dx11, so yer, you can excuse the graphics. in my opinion the matchmaking system was rubbish, the gameplay was repetative, but other than that, if thats what you like... meh

I read all the hype surrounding it, watched gameplay from the other platform demos (PC, 360) and tonight I finally played it. (And by finally I mean after sitting for about 45 minutes searching for a match)
I've never heard of anyone having to wait 45 minutes. My guess would be that this is more than slight exaggeration or you have some tremendous network issues.

-The graphics aren't good. I'm talking MW2 bad, I don't care its a demo because the games coming out next week or so. so many pop ins, it reminded me of Gears of War. Add to that that the 360 and PC versions look WAAAY better than the PS3 version. Thanks for half-assing our version Crytek. -___-
I haven't seen much of the PS3 graphics, but I can't imagine it's much worse. There'd be no reason for it to be given that the PS3 has more graphical power than the 360. If the demo is having problems, I imagine they'll be fixed in the final game.

-The gunplay is HORRIBLE. There are no hitmarkers so everyone just sprays the guns randomly until someone dies. You don't even know when you are hitting someone. Its so frustrating watching a killcam of some guy spraying the gun around in a circle then all of a sudden the killcam goes into slowmo and ONE GODDAMN bullet headshots you.
Wait, so you want a hitmarker? Or you want there to be no headshots? Or you want the guns to be more accurate? Or you want the guns to be less accurate so spraying is harder? I'm confused. Personally, I detest hitmarkers - you don't need an indication of when you hit someone, the indication is how incredibly better you'll do firing in bursts (use less ammo, fire tighter, kill enemies faster). If other people are spraying, that's GOOD for you, they'll tend to do a lot worse.
IamSofaKingRaw said:
-The maps are HORRIBLE.
The maps I've played on have been among the best-designed in any FPS I've played. The vertical dimension is much more pronounced and, given your better ability to nagivate that dimension with higher jumping, faster movement, and easy ledge-grabbing, it actually feels like a nice way to add some real strategy to deciding where to engage enemies from on the map.
IamSofaKingRaw said:
-All the guns feel the same. Th SCAR, and that LMG kill with the same amount of bullets
They handle quite differently. Different accuracy, different rate of fire, different spread.
IamSofaKingRaw said:
-The game plays like Halo mixed with COD (not in a good way). COD with the terrible spraying gunplay and killstreaks, and Halo with the armor and health. Did I mention how terrible the gunplay is?
I think this would count as an "opinion". I really enjoyed the mix. It has many of the features from realistic shooters that I've come to like (nearly obligatory ironsighting for example) and mixes it with other elements to speed the game up (faster movement, more vertical levels) and add some variety (cloak for instance) while helping eliminate some of the problems (armor mode to make fights in the open last a bit longer).
IamSofaKingRaw said:
-Hit Detection is BAD. I've watched killcams of people shooting the air next to me then I'd just drop dead, wtf?
I suspect that this might be due to your ping or to the graphics themselves. From a programming perspective, it's incredibly more likely that hit detection is fine, but the tracers you're seeing are lagged or just slightly inaccurate. Also, I've never really thought to look, but I doubt every bullit leaves a tracer, so it's very possible that you're just happening to see bullets that missed with tracers while the bullets that hit happened not to have tracers.
IamSofaKingRaw said:
-The thing I hate the most though is that when you respawn for some **** reason you can't move and have to sort of jump around before the game will allow you to move forward. (IDK maybe its just for me but that pisses me off.)
As I said, I haven't really played the PS3 version, but I haven't heard of this problem before and it definitely doesn't show up in the PC demo. That sounds like it would be really fucking annoying though.
Well to be fair, I downloaded the demo about an hour after it released so it was probably because no one had it yet.

Yeah THE GRAPHICS ARE WORSE than the 360s.

I want to know when I'm hitting someone. Whether by showing blood splattering out of the guy I'm shooting or by showing hitmarkers. As it is, everyone (or the people I've played against) all spray the gun every where because no one knows whether or not they are actually hitting you or not. I've tried the crouching, burst fore tactic (I play KZ a lot, thats basically the only way to kill anything in KZ) but still, I have no idea if the guy should die with my next burst or if I even hit him.

You may be right about not every bullet not leaving a tracer on the killcam, but when you watch your killer SHOOTING at the space you are not occupying and getting a kill for it, its really frustrating

I don't really like the maps, especially the Pier 1 one. People respawn in random places so you never really have a sense of where the enemies are coming from.

I think the PC version may be better (Crytek are mainly PC devs aren't they) but the PS3 version absolutely made me not even consider buying this game new. Rent or used copy for me (if the SP is any good)
Jesus CHRIST I take back what I said about the graphics. Why would they ever do such a thing?

That said, I still like the gameplay a lot. I think it's probably just a taste thing. I like how you don't know where the enemies are coming from for instance; it makes the game move faster and adds a little chaos.

Also, nano-vision helps a LOT. They don't really stress it in the documentation or the tutorial, but it's probably the best of all the armor abilities (and you can use it alongside the regular abilities too).

You lost me at bad graphics.

(PC) I was visibly stunned at the detail in the graphics when I entered the demo for the first time, and I'm running on almost two year old hardware.

The gameplay is chaotic, I haven't felt this level of mobility in a FPS since Tribes 2.

All in all, I think it's a solid win.

I havn't seen the appeal of multiplayer shooters since I was 15.

If you're going to really play crysis, by god, you need a proper PC with a proper video card. Crysis 1 has been the benchmark for PC performance since its release.

MW2 bad? How on any scale were the graphics in that game bad? You sir, require a visit to the optometrist.
You know when you play a game that looks awesome like God of War 3, the first Crysis, Uncharted 2, KZ3 etc.. and you take the time to look around at the scenery and take in how beautiful everything is?

Yeah, I did that with Crysis 2 and did not get the "this is beautiful" feeling.

That doesn't make the graphics bad, just not stellar.

A new Timesplitters game?

*Crosses fingers*
We hope.
But since Crysis 2's multiplayer is apparently crap, how will Crytek let them?
I couldn't even play the demo for Crysis 2. Never found a match.

I have to agree with the OP. The game was borderline unplayable due to dodgy controls and godawful hit detection, and on top of that, the texture pop was reminiscent of the first Mass Effect. Granted, I was playing the console version, but it went beyond that. The HUD was so poorly laid out it was completely useless, and the overuse of blur effects and visual filters resulted in some of the busiest, noisiest, most cluttered visuals I've ever seen.

Crysis should stick to being a tech demo franchise; without PC visuals behind it, it's just another unspeakably dumb story about a man in a robot suit shooting aliens.

My complaints are all about readability, it sucks.

Also it feels like a clone of every shooter out there, it's just very mediocre.

And seeing as PC doesn't yet support DX11 (OR EVEN 10) I hardly think it's worth my money. Crysis is meant to be a game where PC gamers can push hardware, it's a bit of a joke with the "press start to play" just being an extra kick to the crotch.

I agree with everything except the graphics, which are fine.

I played a couple matches last night, and watching the killcam of the person who shot me was ridiculous. Especially when I emptied my gun right at them with no results and they took one or two shots and killed me.

actually, its more like PC>PS3/360 when it comes to multiplatform games. theres usually either no difference, or a very minimal difference between PS3 and 360 versions of games.

Wow, are the 360 graphics better? Cause the 360 has some fucking amazing lighting. What I played looked much better than that
I hate to add to fan-rage but i gotta agree, 360 version looks significantly better than that. I've got it booted up now and there's sun-shafts, particle effects, better specularity, and... well it just looks nicer.

Also, OP mentioned there is no hit indicators. Um, there are on the 360 (three little lines that come out around your reticule when you hit something). Again, I haven't played the pc version or the ps3 version, but what I've got is pretty good.

Beyond that, yea I think some of the handling issues, melee feels a bit broken and the armor doesn't seem to do anything. But it is a hell of a lot more fun than any COD or Halo game I can think of (that might be because its new tho).

You you guys have 2 maps? The 360 only had one, that I know of. Also I thought it was decent nothing amazing, maybe with time it will change. The single player hopefully is good since Im really looking to this game
