Games about the second great war are a plenty but is anyone else getting tired of them? They tell pretty much the same story of the allies winning and the axis losing from almost every perspective. I have began to think they were running out of ideas when zombies came in on Return to Caslte Wolfenstien but thats my opinion what are yours?

Ok i have skype and you can call phones from skye and you tag thing shows up as a phone number... i was tempted to use my one free call on that even tho i know it wouldn't connect to anything. Anyways WWII rehashed and reused, and will be for ever more.

Needs more World War Zero games. Clubs, rocks and pointy sticks. That would rule so hard. CAVEMEN VERSUS...WHATEVER ELSE THERE WAS BACK THEN!

I would rather the next call of duty be set in WW2 than another modern warfare, but thats just me. Probably an unpopular opinion, but hey, i like history.

As long as they're good games, I don't complain. It is an immensely rich occasion to base your games on after all. No wonder there are so many.

I think why WW2 games are done to death are it was a time when the baddies were known and in reflection are still baddies. And as well it's a point of pride with Americans, it was the last "glorious" war. Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan are all sheep herders with rifles (probably the same ones used by U.S. troops in WW2) versus, Nato/America with ICBMs and billion dollar bombing jets. Killing a person who has no real defense is like punching a baby in the face - a dick move. And no one likes to feel like a dick in their games especially when most of the time games are built to prop up the heroes.

The one that I'm sad was canceled was six days in Falujah, one that would show a real to life approximation of the war on the ground. And everyone protested saying it's insensitive. I personally think it would be a great thing to show what these soldiers go through, but I guess it would also show the senselessness of the war etc. etc.

Bottom line,

WW2 games sell, because killing Nazis is satisfying and it makes us feel patriotic.

Others have said it, but i would like to see a ww2 game from the standpoint of axis forces.

Over done, yes but what else can you do but play them/ignore them?

Modern warfare games will be overdone in the future as will the futuristic warfare games and will be brought up in threads like this. It is a never ending cycle of games/wars/battles being redone and reused over and over again until someone can make the genre interesting again.

You know, Return To Castle Wolfenstein had zombies because Wolfenstein 3D had zombies.

Anyways, I like World War II games, ( Except for COD5 :[ ) so I don't mind.

I have no problem with another WW2 game, but at least in a new location, like Yugoslavia or somewhere.

Well, the only recent WWII game that was decent was Saboteur. It takes a split along the lines of the super-powered super-guin-wielding Nazis, but its otherwise pretty good.

When they're good and fresh, then yes, they can be ok. Some are great for a laugh, like MoH: AA. Brings me back to the good old Quake 2 days, except with slightly less horrific monsters and weapons that need to reload.
