While watching Band of Brothers, I realized I like quite a lot of WW2 films/games/TV programs, even though each gives a very different look on the war.

In games, you never truly get emotional if someone dies or something bad happens(or good). Where as in films you can, but as most films are only 2 hours long(ish) you never really get a good insight into their mentality, or see them through more then 2 battles. So my favorite going from that is TV Programs, were I feel can be enthralling, emotional, and can truly show the characters personality and maturing. Although that being said, it can also be their downfall as if you want to watch just a few bits, it can be hard to locate them.

Which kind of sums Band of Brothers up, as my favorite TV program. But CoD 3 is probably my favorite game as it show the war from all different nations. And Saving Private Ryan as my favorite film, as even today it still just is an amazing film. So what's yours?

My favorite WW2 movie has got to be Enemy at the Gates.
As for games, I'm sick and tired of WW2, but if I have to pick one it'll have to be History Channel: Battle of the Pacific (I'm only kidding of course).

I like Company of Heroes as a game, but I agree that WW2 is pretty much overdone--at least the battlefield stuff. Personally, I'd like to see a WW2 game where you directly go up against some of the more dispicable aspects of the 3rd Reich, such as the higher level Nazi commanders, concentrations camp guards, Nazi "doctors", the einsatzgruppen, etc. Perhaps, you could be a British or US agent who is sent on various covert missions involving these aspects of the regime.

I love the setting, it's the purest war we've had. I especially like BoB and the COD games.

I would like to see a WW2 game from the German perspective, though. Something with some moral depth to it. You sign up because you love your country and believe the Treaty of Versailles screwed you over, and you have the exhilaration of winning so much so easily. But you see things that trouble you. Eventually you have to make a choice - do I stand up to the Nazi, try to release the Jews/homosexuals/Slavs/whatever without getting caught, or let them be executed?

Actually it would probably be very difficult to do that well as a game; maybe a movie would be better.

I like Sniper: The Art of Victory. It's fun taking out Nazi's with well placed head shots.
