Why the hell is this so popular that it rivals important political news on the television news programs and in the newspapers?
A bunch of people who, well done you, can sing well and who will be inevitably metaphorically raped by the music industry and left for dead later. There may be exceptions to the rule but it doesn't matter. We can't even laugh at the talentless Joe who has been tricked through with the pretense of grandeur in the later rounds, so why does everyone care about this show?

Well, not everyone cares about it. As you can see I don't.

But yeah, it is a little bit silly that people can get so obsessed about it.

I find the whole idea repugnant. it makes a mockery of the whole music industry by force feeding people music, and blocking out the good stuff. I'm gonna go sulk now...

I hate the X-Factor with a passion. There is no need for it.

I hate the show. The people on there are just as bad as Disney stars; just adding more green gloop to the pop industry. Their only good find was Leona Lewis.

Funny thing is, I'm replying to this thread with no real reason - the title caught me, thinking it was the name of an old WWF wrestling duo.

Anyway, I haven't had cable (or any form of TV) for over a year now, instead using Graboid to watch my rather selective catalogue of shows. It's nice not to have to sit through commercials. (And yes I'm aware that there are 'free' copies out there, but no one beats their download speeds)

I think the appeal of the show is the whole "emperor wears no clothes" thing.

Singers are a pretty deluded bunch, for the most part. They ALL think that they have star quality when in fact very few of them do. It's partly their fault for being so egotistical, and partly the industry's fault for not being straight with them. The music industry is one of those industries where no-one will tell you to your face that you are shit. So these people who absolutely suck enter this thing thinking that they have genuine talent, only to get shut down and receive probably what will be the only genuine criticism they'll ever get in their entire careers as a musician. There's something very satisfying about watching that. Maybe I'm just a very cruel person.

Having said that I don't actually watch the show (I don't in fact watch any scheduled TV of any kind) but on the few occasions where I've seen clips of it or snippets from YouTube etc I've thoroughly enjoyed it in a perverse kind of way.
