This has probably been asked under another name, but it's kind of fun to see how much crap some people (myself included) will sit through if their favorite thing is mentioned or even referenced, and maybe it might have introduced you to something you'd have never thought to check out before.

I'll cite a personal example. I LOVE The Electric Light Orchestra, perhaps not as much that it borders on fanaticism, but it is the one band I happen to have a lot of information about. I enjoy hearing their music, but I love it more when I hear it in a movie or a video game. It is because of this band that I even played and tried to like The Grand Theft Auto games (Vice City being my favorite).

Hearing that "Mr. Blue Sky" was on the soundtrack of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind made me want to see that movie, even though in tracking down the soundtrack, it actually lists with an asterisk next to the song title that "Song does not appear in film". Needless to say, Eternal Sunshine was a movie I was willing to gloss over had the soundtrack not caught my interest (I was 14 at the time, and I own it today on DVD, it's one of my favorites).

That being said, finding my favorite band on soundtracks has nearly made me sit through a lot of garbage. Doogal, the Americanized version of The Magic Roundabout has the same song, and it's amazing how awful the movie actually is. The English version is actually kind of cute.

I watched Billy Madison just because "Telephone Line" is in one scene, and I think it's fun with some friends, and I watched Boogie Nights because "Living Thing" appears at the end of the movie and I think that movie is just unbelievable.

I have my weaknesses, and I would like to think there is some sort of band/subject/person that interests you that if they are involved in some capacity with a book, a song, a movie or a game, and for good or bad, you'll attempt to check them out.

Short answer: What's one particular subject that if it comes out in some way, you'll check something out just to see how it's referenced/used?
