I just got my hands on it. First impressions and stuff.
Okay, this is not a review, mostly it's a first impressions. I haven't played more than 2 hours of this game but I have a few things I want to say at first.
Egosoft redefined massive in this new installment of this wonderful series. I literally felt very very small in my little fighter spacecraft in comparison to the logistics station. It is VERY big. Person VS the 2 Empire State buildings and then some.
I haven't managed to delve into the story yet, so I can't really comment more on that aside from the damn nice intro video.
The reason I haven't delved into the story yet, are the controls, which while haven't changed much, have changed in such a way that they piss me off and are really not that easy to control. I liked the old X3 Reunion controls. They felt more natural than these controls, and most of my playtime was spent trying to make the current controls mimic the old controls. Ah well...
Graphics went a step up with no real impact on my PC (but then again I have a Intel core 2 duo 3.33, 4 GB of RAM, Geforce GTX280) so that's a plus.
They improved on the non plot missions which is another plus in my book. I'll delve into these as I play them more later.
For now these are the first impressions, and from these first impressions, I can say Egosoft struck gold again.
