Xbox 360 Arcade = Xbox 360 Core?

Hello you lot. You may remember me posting a topic a while back searching for help in making a case for a new Xbox. I have recently won this case, which got me chuffed. However, this was agreed on two conditions. I had to pay half the price, and it had to be the most basic model. That means one thing, and one thing only: The XBox 360 Arcade.

Now, I've heard many horrifying things about this model of the console, some of which may or may not be true. What I want to know is this: If I were to buy it, and set it up in exactly the same way as my previous Xbox 360 (a core model), would it run the same way (ie, normally)?

What I mean by this is, if I were to plug in the same memory units, wireless adaptor, and pretty much everything, would it make a difference to how my old Xbox 360 performed?

I appreciate your help, and deeply apologise if my question is unclear.

No it wouldn't, the problem with the arcade is a lack of memory, as in it has none. If you already have a set of memory units you may be alright, but the arcade holds jack shit in regards to downloadable content, game add-ons, or even an excessive number of gamer profiles I think. At some point it even runs out of memory for game saves.

Though if you can get a new Hard Drive for it, those problems should vanish. Yeah a hard drive is expensive, but it is more practical than a bunch of memory units.

Well if it will be new, it means that it will have the jasper procesor and extra space. 512 mb if I'm not mistaken. The rest should be similar to your old one.

I HAD an Elite, but it broke, and since I live in the back ass of no where, Microsoft couldn't help me when I inevitably got the RROD. So after about half a year, I got an Arcade, and plugged my Hard Drive, HD cables, Wireless Adapter and Wireless controller, and it works absolutely fine.

So, yeah, it'll work.

Happened to me, my old "Premium" system broke, so I just replaced with a "Core" system, all the stuff still works.

Maybe thats why the core/arcade systems are cheap, MS knew that the 360 would eventually break so buying the expensive version would be a waste o cash each time

I went from the core (that is the 20gb model right?) to an arcade and it works just fine. Hell I even got 5 free arcade games and a memory card to boot. Just switched the HDDs. The only thing you gotta worry about is the license transfer. If you have done it once in the past year kiss all your DLC content you wanna play offline goodbye. If you haven't then you just need to go through a simple process and you are good to go. I use a wired set up though (I don't believe in you wireless internet witchcraft) and a regular SDTV.
