My controller seems to be acting odd. When I turn it on, the button flashes, and flashes, but nothing else happens, I'm unable to use it. I tried giving it new batteries, but that didn't seem to work. I also tried syncing up the 360 to the controller, didn't work out to well, (though I may have done it wrong)

So what should I do?

EDIT: THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP, INCULDING (drum roll)
Horrowdown for telling me to HOLD the buttons AT THE SAME TIME

You should try syncing it again; if you do it right, it should work.

This is off topic but... Aby_Z, your avatar is making me want to say 'weeeeeeee!' in a really high pitched voice.

Wait, so do I press the sync on the 360 and the controller at the same time? And my xbox is white, so where would a black button be?

Hit sync on the 360, then on the controller, then wait for a bit. Also, make sure both the controller and the 360 are on.

Oh sorry, mine is black - it's a small button that should be on the 'front' of your controller (by the left bumper button). Switch on your xbox first without turning on your controller then try pressing it, should sync it up (I am pretty sure that's how to do it anyway)

Off-topic:

this is why wireless fails, with wired controllers only 4 predictable things could be wrong

1. you haven't got it plugged in.
2.the console power is off
3.you cut the wires
4. you controller is trashed

I had this problem too, but mine wouldn't turn on at all. Here's what I did:

Stopped using it and set it down for 6 months. Bought a new controller to replace it. When the new controller broke, I went back to the previously broken one and it worked. Go figure.

And with wireless controllers wouldn't it just be these?

1. you haven't got it synched properly.
2. the console power is off
3. the batteries are dead
4. your controller is trashed

I can't think of anything else anyway...

To Sync properly, press the small button on top of your controller (Next to the port where you would plug a charger into) and then press the small button on your 360 near the memory card slots. Give it a moment, and it should sync the controller properly.

You have to re-sync the controller every time you hook it up to a 360, so if you took it to a friends house and synced it to their 360, you'd have to sync it again to your 360 to use it on your 360.

Anybody got one of those knock off 360 controllers that is clear and glows? I just saw them on amazon and they look cool, but I really hate products by companies like Madkatz b/c they always suck. Anyone have one?
No but I have a friend who has one and it plays terribly and always cuts out. This is probably because its wired and the cord sucks but even then I wouldn't trust it.
