Few Questions,
how old is it?
really? 500+ hours?

anyways. Easy solution, get a new halo 3. It's like 30 bucks now isn't it?

Olive Oil
seriously, my Tales of Vesperia disk is all fucked up from a 360 and poor maintenance
get a sponge wet with some Olive Oil and rub it on the disk, wipe it off with a paper towel and it should play, it works for me every time

and it could be your 360 crapping its self
try the disk in another Xbox

I've never had that happen.

I did borrow Mass Effect from my brother, but when I got to the Citadel, the game would always give me a disc error

I installed it to hard drive and it worked fine then.

Try installing it to the hard drive.

I was waiting for my Halo 3 disk to brake so I could have a valid reason to not play it, it ended up scratched to hell and the middle of the disk was literally cracked straight through just by playing it, worst thing about it?, it still played fine..... xD

It's happened with a SW Republic commando disc, but likely because it was bought online that it died on me.

At first I thought this topic was gonna be about Kinect, lol.

Sorry to say but it looks like you're gonna have to get a new xbox, mate. At least, I would say sorry, but then I remembered that Halo 3's singleplayer takes about fifteen minutes to beat and nobody gets it for that anyways, so you should be good, if a bit out-of-pocket.

yep. simplest way to keep discs from getting destroyed if you plan to play it a crap ton is install to hard drive. then erase it when you are done and put the disc away, carefully and hide it from the xbox.

No because my Xbox is a ps3.

jk

I have a 360 and the first game I put in it Gears 1 (it was a few years ago) got eaten up because I slide the console ofward a little to fix the cables at the back. By slide I mean moved it 3 inches away from the tv set before I heard the disturbing grinding sound.

Either your xbox moved without you knowing somehow, or, more likely, you simply have played halo 3 to death. Literally. I have a friend with the exact same problem. Go get a new copy, it should be dead cheap now.

See IamSofaKingRaw's post. Little things seem to cause the 360 to crap out or eat games.
